That’s probably true. I suppose they really should have made Avengers: Endgame a literal endgame, leaving everything else as a pleasant memory, because ever since then, the movies seem to lose their sense of purpose. The plots feel increasingly absurd, and honestly, I find it all a bit too outlandish and silly to actually be enjoyable. Even the humor feels like it's on a downward slide; there isn't enough of it, and when it does show up, it rarely hits the mark.

Maybe they ought to have just stopped making movies altogether and pivoted toward series or perhaps the occasional standalone film.

I guess Star Wars managed to pull that off to some extent; while the last film trilogy wasn't exactly a masterpiece, their shows are quite solid, like The Mandalorian or Andor. Perhaps both Marvel and DC should consider following a similar path.

I have ceased watching these films altogether. The last one I viewed was Avengers: Endgame.

Maybe I should give it another look. 👍
Even after MCU: Endgame, there have been some solid films, and the series are holding their own too.

It might actually be better if they just skip it, because most of everything following "Endgame" feels like nothing more than a pointless exercise in futility.

I don't really see it that way. I'm not sure I'm on the same page as you guys.
Look, I’m just saying, the post-Endgame era isn't exactly total garbage.
Look, I know the third Spider-Man movie is basically one giant pile of fan service—but then again, wasn't Avengers: Endgame exactly the same thing? Even so, I feel like they actually pulled it off this time. It was executed the right way.
I’ll be honest, I pretty much looked down on Holland’s Spider-Man right up until this movie. It felt like he was just playing around. But finally, he actually felt the weight of what a real Spider-Man has to deal with on a daily basis. That final scene? That was the first time we saw the actual Spider-Man—none of that high school nonsense, the fancy apartment, the supervillain girlfriends, or relying on Stark’s tech and handouts. He’s finally just a guy from the streets.
It’s such a massive shame, but honestly, the sequel is probably going to be total garbage. I just don't see any way they can actually pull this off with any kind of quality. It's almost impossible to continue a story like this without it falling apart.

Phase 4 has really only had these tiny little flashes of brilliance, but nothing that actually feels like a complete package. It’s like... you get one decent episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Maybe one good scene out of WandaVision. Or one decent line from Loki. That's about it. We just don't seem to be getting those movies anymore that are actually good from start to finish, like Captain America 2 was.

Honestly, this doesn't even look that bad 🙈

But I’m fully prepared to cringe my eyes out once I actually sit down to watch it.

Matthew Johnson30 said:I suppose Phase 4 has had its few bright spots, though they certainly lack any sense of cohesion. It’s as if we get one decent episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, perhaps one standout scene in WandaVision, or maybe just a single sharp line in Loki. But it feels like there aren't any truly great films from start to finish anymore, much like we saw with Captain America 2.

When you really step back and look at the big picture, I don't think it's worth the investment of our time, because they seem to have lost their rhythm and their continuity, and... well, they are essentially just beating a dead horse. They keep pushing forward without realizing they might never return to the heights they reached during "Infinity War" and "Endgame". The party ended a long time ago.

Kenneth Perez15 said:I have a really bad feeling about this.

It’s going to be just like the last Spider-Man movie—they’ll cram in three big action set pieces and convince themselves they’ve made a masterpiece.

Look, the last Spider-Man was actually a very solid Spider-Man movie. Sorry, but the massive box office numbers and the critical reception don't lie, and the fans clearly love it too (we're talking a 98% audience score). Even if you choose to ignore the money as a metric—which is fine—the fact remains. Saying it wasn't good just doesn't hold water.
And frankly, I think he's the only one who can actually save the MCU or pull off some massive team-up if anyone is actually concerned about profit margins. Why? Because he’s more popular than the rest of them combined; people just adore him. But hey, since Sony is tangled up in the whole thing, they're pretty limited in what they can do since it isn't entirely their property. Think about it: which MCU film following Spider-Man has pulled in anywhere near or over a billion dollars? None of them. Not even a single one. Everything else has been a bit of a mess with mediocre reviews.

And honestly, he might be the only one capable of saving the MCU or some massive team-up event if anyone actually cares about hitting profit margins. I mean, the guy is more popular than the rest of them combined; people just adore him. But hey, since Sony is tangled up in this, they're a bit limited—it's not entirely their property. Name one other MCU film after Spider-Man that pulled in near or over a billion? None. And that was only the third installment. Everything else has been kind of messy with mediocre reviews.

As far as I'm concerned, a movie featuring a villain who turns Doctor Strange into an incompetent idiot—someone who creates a multiverse just so Spider-Man can fumble through spells while the magic is happening, where the multiverse breaks both spatial and temporal barriers to summon villains from previous movies, and where they deal with May in such a weak, unconvincing way—is not a movie that deserves any praise, let alone those kinds of earnings.

It’s just a copy-paste version of the successful trend that J. J. Abrams kicked off back in 2015 with his Star Wars mess. You just feed the audience a heap of nostalgia for the "good old days" to camouflage a total lack of actual creativity.

Here, much like with the last Doctor Strange flick, they'll probably mash together series and films centered around a lead character who isn't even the most popular guy in the MCU. So, yeah, I'm not feeling particularly optimistic.

Which version of Doctor Strange makes himself look like an absolute idiot? Which one creates a multiverse where Spider-Man keeps changing the requirements mid-spell, where the multiverse breaks both space and time barriers to summon villains from old movies, and where they get rid of May in such a weak, unconvincing way? To me, this movie doesn't deserve any praise, let alone those box office numbers.

Maybe Strange's spell would have worked if things hadn't gone sideways during the Loki series. Even Loki himself didn't just head back to the TVA in the current timeline; he arrived there right when Kang had already taken control.

If you’d seen Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, it might make more sense. Incursions are happening, and the timelines within a single universe are becoming almost infinite...

I feel like Phase 4 really stumbled because too much story is being dumped into TV shows. Thor: Love and Thunder and parts of Black Widow were huge misses for me. Shang-Chi has way too much going on, and while Eternals felt like an expensive experiment, most people just didn't connect with it. As for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, I don't think it failed because of Sam, but rather because it relies so heavily on a prequel story from a series. Personally, I'm not a fan of the MCU series; I want to enjoy the MCU in theaters like everyone else, not feel like I have homework. Before Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we knew Wanda as this grieving widow who lost Vision. Suddenly, in this movie, she just has kids and a happy family life? Honestly, WTF was that!!!???

This movie is going to be such a massive flop that the producers will be left spinning. I was debating whether or not to catch Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in theaters until the very last second, and honestly, I’m glad I skipped it because the film is absolute garbage.

After seeing this trailer, I can already decide right now: I am not wasting my money on this trash at the cinema. There are plenty of people like me who have been following everything since the first Iron Man, and we are getting pretty tired of all this junk they keep dumping into theaters.

I might go see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 later this year, but after that, I'm done with Marvel.

In my opinion, it isn't just Marvel's fault. I didn't even bother seeing Shazam! Fury of the Gods because that isn't hitting the quality levels we used to expect anymore either. Now I'm even sitting here wondering if The Flash is actually worth watching.

Compared to Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is practically an Oscar contender. 😲

This whole trend of praying for a flop or just expecting one is spreading like wildfire, honestly. And whenever I see that made-up word "woke" being thrown around, it just makes me feel sick...

I’ve been scrolling through social media, and it seems like everyone is bracing for a mediocre opening for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. I’ll be blunt: if even a powerhouse like the Guardians underperforms, we might be looking at the beginning of the end for the MCU. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania barely made anything, and Thor: Love and Thunder was just silly. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever had its pros and cons, sure, but it was actually a well-made movie. Most of the hate directed at it felt like it was just because of the female leads, which, in my opinion, isn't right at all.

The Avengers could actually pull this off because they have Kamala and Carol. I am a little unsure about the chemistry between an adult Monica—who served as "Lieutenant Fury's" deputy—and Carol, though. Monica had some pretty rough dialogue in WandaVision that really lowered the bar for her character. I really hope DaCosta and the rest of the crew can make Monica a better person. Having Fury in there will definitely help the rating; he did the same thing in SMFFH, which was a pretty bad Spider-Man film. Beck and Fury carry the movie, while Peter and MJ are just... meh.

I’m genuinely looking forward to The Avengers. That first movie is the one I've rewatched more than anything else in the MCU—probably close to 30 times.

That seems unlikely, I suppose, given that neither of those characters has really captured the audience's heart.

Hmm, I don't know about Carol instead of Kamala? Personally, I’d say she's one of the best characters from Phase 4, alongside people like Yellen, Morbius, and Kate Bishop.

I suppose most of those names you mentioned passed through the minds of the audience almost imperceptibly, and honestly, I suspect that hardly anyone even remembers them anymore.
