Just out of pure curiosity, I wanted to throw this question out there...
Let's say, in terms of raw percentages, how often are appeals regarding bans or moderator actions actually overturned in favor of the user? I'm wondering just how frequently a moderator or an admin might end up receiving a formal reprimand, a warning, or something along those lines 🤔 🍿

Honestly, we don't really bother keeping a formal paper trail for this. We just kind of play it by ear and assess things on a case-by-case basis whenever the need arises.

In all my years on this site, I haven't seen a single mod go, "Yeah, my bad, we messed up—let's clear that strike."🧐
Guess I'll keep waiting another few years. Maybe then I'll get lucky.😬

Well, I have. Just once. The site admin actually pulled back a strike that some mod had slapped on me over the sports threads. But those millions of strikes handed out in the politics section? Those were never touched. 😁

🙂 A decent attempt, I suppose, but neither argument really holds water.

During my brief tenure as a supermoderator, I personally handed out bans to nearly every single moderator working within my specific jurisdictions, namely Politics and Religion. The fact that such disciplinary actions aren't a daily occurrence doesn't necessarily imply that these moderators are infallible paragons of virtue; rather, it simply means they are being extremely cautious about when they pull the trigger.
Well, thanks for asking. 😉
