It’s not like we haven't seen this before.

Sebastian Vettel shaved off two tenths to beat Luja, clocking in at 1.10.240. 🎉
That new PU spec didn't do much for Mercedes-Benz, but it finally helped Ferrari.
A lot of people on this thread are in shock because Vettel actually outpaced Charles Leclerc.

It’s funny how you always show up acting like you have all the answers.

As for Mercedes-Benz, if they just dial back the effort during the weekend so they can unleash everything in Q3 and sweep the field, who really cares?

Bottas is having a total meltdown, what a mess.

It isn't as if we aren't used to this—I suppose.

That moment when the most paranoid F1 blowhard in history starts talking about himself in the plural—I guess. 🙏

It seems that new PU spec didn't do much for Mercedes-Benz—I guess Ferrari finally pulled ahead.
A lot of people on this thread seem pretty stunned—I guess—that Vettel managed to outpace Charles Leclerc like that.

I suspect Mercedes will pull off another win tomorrow—despite how well Ferrari looked today. Qualifying strategy is much easier to mess up than race day execution, and Ferrari seems to be experts at throwing it all away mid-race.

I guess he didn't quite nail a single corner during that final lap—not even one. 😬

It’s not like we aren't used to this kind of mess.

Sebastian Vettel beat Luja by two-tenths—and that was with a 1.10.240. 🎉
That new PU spec didn't do much for Mercedes-Benz; finally, some movement from Ferrari.
Half the people on this thread are acting shocked—as if seeing Vettel outpace Charles Leclerc is some kind of miracle.

Showing up after a century, how nice 😁—though I'm sure there will be more silence once the race ends tomorrow.
Just enjoy the moment while it lasts. ☕

Has there been any news about layoffs over at Ferrari lately?

crimsonhawk23 said:Mark my words, Mercedes will walk away with the win tomorrow regardless of how impressive Ferrari looked today. Why? Because it is significantly easier to blow a qualifying strategy than it is to mess up a race, and we all know Ferrari specializes in throwing it all away once the lights go out.

You’re just grasping at straws here—perhaps you think they've actually improved? Honestly, seeing how Sebastian Vettel managed to pull ahead of Lewis Hamilton was an incredible lap, truly. 🎉

Do try to maintain some composure; why must you take everything so personally? 🤦

The Ferrari fans here in Montreal have absolutely lost their minds. I’m sitting here in my Mercedes-Benz gear, surrounded by nothing but a sea of red.

Sebastian Vettel put in a stellar lap. Ricciardo finally looks like he's woken up, too. Tomorrow is going to be a real nail-biter. I can't shake the feeling that Ferrari just doesn't have the long-run pace to keep up with Mercedes-Benz.

Solid lap from Seba. Ricciardo finally showed some life. Tomorrow's gonna be a mess. Honestly, I've got a feeling Ferrari just doesn't have the long run pace to keep up with Mercedes-Benz.

Ricciardo's been awake the last few races, but Renault is basically asleep at the wheel. Now they're actually showing up.

Hulk Hogan unfortunately locked up that front left tire going into the hairpin, which probably would've given him a better result if he hadn't. Didn't sound exactly thrilled on the team radio about how things shook out either.

A great lap from Seba. Ricciardo finally looks like he's woken up. Tomorrow should be an interesting one. I have a nagging feeling that Ferrari just doesn't have the long-run pace to match Mercedes-Benz.

Sebastian Vettel is a different beast when he's out front.
If the pit wall doesn't mess things up, I think he could take the win, even if his race pace isn't quite there. That Ferrari top speed might just be the deciding factor.

From what I can see, Lewis Hamilton is hitting 325, while Vettel is at 335.
That should be enough for Vettel to hold his own.

Lewis says they're dropping 4-5 tenths in the final sector compared to the Ferrari. Honestly, I'm just praying Ricciardo pulls some kind of insane, chaotic move at the start tomorrow.

And we'll just have to wait and see if Leclerc ends up getting slapped with some kind of penalty.

If the Ferrari hits 205 mph, they still have enough time to maintain that pace.
With the Mercedes hitting 202 mph, they're having to brake incredibly hard right before the chicane just a second later.
I need to dig up a comparison lap to be sure, but it looks to me like the Ferrari spends twice as much time at speeds over 200 mph. That’s clearly why they're closing the gap so fast.

Just caught the onboard of Bottas's lap in Q3. Absolute disaster. Two lock-ups and he missed two apexes... what a mess.

When the Mercedes-Benz reaches 202 mph, they’re already slamming on the brakes right before the chicane just a second later.
We really ought to dig up a comparable lap for comparison, but my impression is that the Ferrari spends twice as much time sustained at speeds above 198 mph. That seems to be the case given how rapidly they reach those figures.

I only hope the FIA doesn't go installing extra sensors on the Ferrari cars again; the reality remains that their cars simply reach higher top speeds on the straights compared to the rest of the field. 🍿

If what Luja is suggesting is true, then Charles Leclerc will likely be in a position to attempt an overtake on him during the very first lap on the straight. 🎉

Well done, Sebastian. Finally, a bit of much-needed breathing room.

Kudos to Daniel Ricciardo; looks like those modes at Renault actually started behaving themselves.

Max finished 10th. Could have been more interesting.
