Do the top 10 drivers all start on their qualifying tires, or is it just the guys who made it into the Third Quarter? I'd really appreciate some clarity here—these rules always seem a bit convoluted to me. Thanks for the help! -.-

From what I gather, he qualified outside the top 10. He picked his tires, then the penalties hit later and applied to the grid after the fact. Or maybe I've got it wrong...

It’s just the Third Quarter starting on the same set of tires they used previously, which means Max Verstappen basically has total freedom to pick whatever he wants.

I have some firsthand intel for you. Lewis Hamilton dealt with a hydraulic leak on his car this morning. The crew is still grinding away at it back in the garage.

Alright, thanks for clarifying. 😁
So it's definitely not over yet. If things go our way and Max can take advantage of that tire freedom, he could actually pull something significant together. 😉

Thanks, and have a great time. Enjoy yourself.🙂

I have to disagree. Even last season, the championship wasn't really at its peak, and they only stayed ahead because of Ferkan's mistakes and Sebastian Vettel's struggles.

Hey everyone! The superstar is back. My old account got banned, so I'm starting fresh with this one.
What can I say? I have no clue why Kimi is struggling so much lately. He’s scored zero points in the last two races—and trust me, that Alfa Romeo is actually pretty fast.
Regardless, I still have faith that Kimi will take the championship. I know, I know, it sounds crazy, but it's a long season!
As for my other predictions—I called it: I said Hamilton would win in Monaco. Meanwhile, stormybad8 claimed Hamilton could win everywhere except Monaco.
I also predicted that Kubica wouldn't even score a single point.
PS—can someone drop a link to today's race? I know someone posted a link for the Monaco GP earlier.🙂

stormyviper2 said:Wait, how does that tire rule actually work again? Max got knocked out in Q2 but he's starting in the top 10, so does that mean he has to use his Q2 tires, or can he just pick whatever? It's confusing. Is it only the Q3 guys who have to use their qualifying tires, or does it apply to anyone from Q2 who ends up in the top 10 if there's a Q3 shebe? What’s the actual rule here? Because looking at the sheet, Max missed Q3 but he's starting 9th. -.- If he starts 9th and gets to choose his tires, he could be seriously dangerous.
Of course Max can pick whatever tires he wants...
Only the drivers who actually make it into Q3 have to start on their Q2 tires...regardless of where they end up on the grid (meaning penalties don't change that)
So basically:
Max picks his preferred tires
Sainz and Magnussen have to use their Q2 tires...
Magnussen obviously can't use his Q2 tires because he wrecked the car and is starting from the pit lane, which means he'll get to pick whatever tires he wants 😉

Looking at the predictions, I’ve gotta say—if Kimi doesn't take the title, then Max is my money!
I'd bet anything that Hamilton isn't going to be the champion this year. ☕

exactly what:
That’s a fair point. Even last season, the Mecka wasn't really at its peak, and they only got lucky because Ferkan was being sloppy and Vettel couldn't quite find his rhythm.
To me, they actually looked way better last year. They seemed much more dominant. Now, I see these wins and those 1-2 finishes, but deep down, I have this nagging feeling it isn't as dominant as it looks on paper. Half the time, they're just scraping by despite a mountain of issues—engine trouble, driver errors, bad strategy calls. It feels like they're just coasting toward the finish line without even breaking a sweat.

Honestly, even Ferkan looked better to me last season. Way better than what we're seeing now.
