Daniel Ricciardo owes his luck to the other drivers for avoiding a double Did Not Finish today.
Nickname is the only reason this didn't turn into a disaster for both of them. He took that corner way too wide, but his mistake actually saved them. It feels like Ricciardo dives into a turn and just assumes everyone else will adjust their line to make room for him.

The tires were a complete disaster regardless of their age...
everyone was driving on ice, and there was a massive wind blowing...
But that isn't an excuse for Sebastian Vettel. He knew the tires on his car were garbage. He knew it was windy, and he knew he’d lose grip the second Lujo got in front of him...

The front wing snapped due to vibrations from damaged, heavily flat-spotted tires. On top of that, Vettel engaged DRS, which surely only increased those vibrations and the chance of the wing failing...

Ultimately, he is to blame for this.

He wasn't in sync with the car all weekend and simply blew the race.
He had everything handed to him: a great start and first place...
He just needed to pull away from Charles Leclerc instead of letting himself fall into Lewis Hamilton's pit window and the rest of the pack...

When you frame it that way, few will disagree.

To me, there remains a distinction between this spin and the one in the final lap in Canada, for example.

I cannot articulate the difference. Damn it. 😁

Stunning shot. I still can't stop thinking about what might have happened if George Russell had caught up to Sebastian Vettel at that speed.

Or if this McProblem mess hadn't already stripped away all the fun parts. XD

What a spectacular race! Unfortunately, Charles needs to accept the reality of driving for Ferrari. A win is coming—there's no doubt about that—but this is a team that thrives on pure chaos and emotion...

As his former teammate, Sebastian Vettel will be making plenty of money just jumping around grabbing burgers. He might even end up joining them at Alfa Romeo next season. It’s the perfect fit for both of them.

McLaren is finally showing progress. They'll be fighting for 4th in the constructors' championship. If they actually had a top-tier driver, they'd be safe, but as it stands, this is how the season plays out.

If Ferrari doesn't completely blow it (which is highly likely), Charles will be the champion. Before the season, I was slightly worried he might fold under pressure, but today he proved he won't. He's a fighter. To lose two positions at the start and then charge back through the field so dominantly to exhaust the competition? That is what a true champion does.

The kid is a real driver; he's the one who will put Ferrari back on top.

I really do believe they'll have an absolute superstar driving for them next year. 👍

Lando Norris looks sharp. It's harder to judge George Russell in that junk heap—but alongside Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc, I’d say we have some top-tier talent for the future. Even Alexander Albon doesn't look bad.

I honestly think Sebastian Vettel is going to get absolutely shredded this season. He’s probably going to need some serious sessions with a therapist just to keep his head on straight. XD

Whether we agree on everything else or not, one thing is absolutely certain: Charles Leclerc is a generational talent. He’s going to be a World Champion. It’s just a matter of when.
Nobody can predict how this season will shake out, but what he pulled off this weekend was nothing short of phenomenal. Hats off to him.
Even what Lewis Hamilton said to him in the cool-down room—if you can even call it that—says everything about how the veterans and multi-time champions view his potential. It's a shame he didn't take the win, but he'll get there. He’s got a long road ahead of him.

I guess even Alexander Albon isn't looking too bad either.

It really is such a shame that Norris isn't driving for one of the top-tier teams right now. Or maybe if he didn't have Fernando Alonso breathing down his neck while dealing with Sainz being his protégé. I suspect the Spanish influence in the paddock might just eat him alive.

WTF 😲😲😲

God, these Goodyear tires are absolute garbage... they aren't even close.
Seems like the undercut this season is just freaking lethal.
Charles Leclerc was flying the entire race, then Lewis Hamilton jumps him by 6.5 seconds—yeah, 6.5 seconds just by pitting two laps earlier.😵

And honestly, I think Charles Leclerc might share some blame for the Ferrari disaster...
Right after that undercut, he hammers out an ultra-fast lap (which ended up being the FL for the rest of the race), followed by four more blistering laps in a row, and then—poof—the Ferrari engine gives up the ghost.
At the end of the day, Charles is the only one who actually pushed the car to its absolute limits the whole time, so that could definitely be why things went south...

It’s not even a stretch to think they just burned through way too much fuel and had to go into extreme saving mode just to finish.🤔
Ferrari is so incompetent it wouldn't even surprise me if they only realized they were running low on fuel at the very last second.

Carlos Sainz vs Max Verstappen

Carlos shut the door on Max. Max had to drift almost entirely off the track—and per the rules, he isn't strictly required to use the full curb for defense, though here he ended up with the whole car on it—leaving him no choice but to go wide (which I suppose would have delighted his critics, lol). Meanwhile, Carlos just turned in like nobody else was there:

image

To borrow a comment from Reddit that breaks it down quite clearly:

"When you aim for the apex with a car inside of you, it's your fault. Therefore it's 100% Sainz's fault.
Luckily for Max he didn't get any damage from an incident where he was totally innocent."

Speaking of Max: Max giving Charles Leclerc a thumbs up

He actually mentioned right after the race that they didn't deserve the podium—mostly because what happened to Charles Leclerc was just terrible, given how well he drove everything.

I found the duels between Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel quite impressive on a few occasions—extremely aggressive, yet perfectly clean.
Both of Hamilton's lunges were incredibly bold. Honestly, I’m surprised there wasn't any contact between those two during the race, given how many close calls they had.
