I'm looking for a laptop in this price range, though I could stretch my budget a bit if it means getting something significantly better...
Mainly using it for
Heavy Microsoft Excel sheets, some Photoshop, and light video editing (just cutting clips and adding text). Also doing some Python coding. It needs enough juice to multitask, since I'm constantly running stuff on various VPSs while working...
Occasionally plugging into a projector to watch movies, but that's pretty much an afterthought.
From what I've gathered, I'll need a multi-threaded processor for 64-bit Excel and at least 8GB of RAM, since everything loads into memory—especially once you throw a few Chrome tabs into the mix so nothing freezes up. An SSD is a must. Everything else is secondary. If I knew exactly what specs to hunt for, I wouldn't be asking...😛
