I’m really hoping for a dignified rendition of the anthem when we face Sweden—honestly, in the States, mocking the national anthem is actually a legal issue.
I don't have anything against soloists performing our anthems, but there absolutely needs to be some sort of connection between the singer and the crowd—what we saw last night was just a total disaster.
The organizers should take a page out of the book of South African or New Zealand rugby matches; they handle things like "N'kosi Sikeleli Africa" (in five different languages) or "God Defend New Zealand" (bilingual) so much better. An opera singer shouldn't be shaking hysterically—they need to sing with dignity while the fans join in—and the sound system should be balanced so the crowd isn't drowned out by the soloist. Last night felt as chaotic as watching the Italian anthem being sung at a Cup of Italy final where half the stadium is booing and the other half is singing along.

Music played during a game is just irritating—that Icelandic goalie had every right to be upset.

Playing music during live gameplay is honestly one of the dumbest things I've ever seen... It’s distracting for the players, annoying for the fans, and just plain irritating for everyone else involved. I’m actually surprised there isn't some official rule in the EHF or IHF regulations specifically banning it.

I guess I’m not sure if this is just how things go in the Champions League, but there was this weird lull during those few seconds when they transitioned from a shot on one end to setting up an attack on the other. It felt like this empty gap in the action. To me, it seemed way too obvious yesterday—it looked like the guy just lost himself in the moment for a second. At the end of the day, I feel like it almost loses its meaning to even cheer when all you can hear is the sound coming through the speakers...

Sure, they’ll blast some hype music when someone scores, and maybe throw in a quick center play while the beat drops, but yesterday we spent half our offensive drives listening to stadium anthems and then just sat there through an entire sequence while they played some old-school folk tune... 😁

Aside from the general thread, I’ll probably set up a specific one for the national team, maybe include the EuroLeague, potentially the Golden State Warriors as their own thing, and I might even open a thread for the Premier League though I'm not holding my breath for much interest there...

Maybe they could look into some kind of national team, or perhaps the EuroLeague, or even something for the youth leagues—maybe women's handball too

I know it probably won't happen, but I honestly feel like it would get way more attention than something like combat sports
