Time to upgrade my PC or what?

Hey there.

I’m hoping I haven't dumped this in the wrong corner of the forum. 😉
Here’s the deal: my brother has his PC setup right in the living room. The router is sitting right next to it—basically tangled up with the phone lines. The DSL cable is pretty short, too (look, don't judge me, I'm not exactly a tech wizard, so I have no clue if that's supposed to be the case or not). He’s itching to move the computer to another room, but now we’re stuck in this limbo. We can't figure out if the router has to stay glued to its current spot, or if we can just haul the whole thing into the other room and deal with the headache of buying a longer DSL cable. 🙂

Bottom line? He wants a better setup, and we're the ones who have to deal with the mess of wires.

So, is a DSL cable actually the same thing as an Ethernet cable? 🙂
As long as you leave the router right where it is, all you really need to do is pick up a longer Ethernet cable, and then boom—you can basically move your whole setup into your own room without any hassle 🙂
