So, I recently picked up a new camera (an ELE Explorer Pro) and grabbed a 64GB SanDisk SD card to go along with it.

The issue is that the camera won't recognize this specific card; it just keeps throwing an error message telling me to insert an SD card. Meanwhile, when I plug it into my PC, the computer sees it perfectly fine.
I've already tried using the card in my phone, and everything works without a hitch there. Even after formatting it on the computer and putting it back into the camera, I get that same annoying error message.

As a test, I popped an older 8GB SD card into the camera, and that worked flawlessly.
From what I understand, the camera itself should support up to 64GB without any trouble.

Has anyone else ever run into a headache like this???
Any insight at all would be greatly appreciated.

...maybe you picked up a knockoff from overseas ...try plugging that SD card into your PC and dumping like 50GB of data onto it....

Maybe try formatting the card as NTFS. It’s possible the camera is being a total stickler about the specs, insisting that SDXC cards have to be exclusively NTFS...

So, I’ve been using this 32GB SD card (HC-Class 10) in my Microsoft camera for about a year now. Up until recently, transferring videos to my PC was smooth sailing, though I did have one weird hiccup where a few photos wouldn't transfer properly—but I didn't think much of it at the time since everything seemed fine after a quick format. Then, out of nowhere, disaster struck. I went to move 150 photos over, and 28 of them were just... gone.

The weirdest part? The camera itself showed me all the photos perfectly fine. But once they hit my computer, those 28 files are total ghosts. No thumbnails, no metadata, nothing—no file size, no shutter settings, you name it. And now, they aren't even showing up on the camera anymore either. I honestly have no idea what happened. (For what it's worth, the corruption isn't sequential; it's random, like ten good ones followed by two duds, then back to normal.)

Is there any way to actually rescue these files?

Everything was smooth when transferring videos to my PC, though I did have one hiccup where some photos lagged during the transfer—it corrupted three shots, but I didn't think much of it at the time. The card was formatted and everything seemed fine until recently, when out of 150 photos, 28 of them just went bad.

The weird part is, I could see all the photos perfectly on the camera itself. But once I moved them to the computer, those 28 files are totally unreadable. There are no thumbnails, and none of the metadata shows up either (file size, settings used, etc.). Now they aren't even showing up on the camera anymore. I'm completely lost. (Just for context, the corrupted files aren't in any kind of sequence; it's just random, like ten good ones followed by two bad ones, and so on.)

Is there any way to salvage these photos?

I'm not sure if those specific photos can be saved, but you should definitely run a diagnostic on that card to see if it's failing. Better safe than sorry for next time.

If you’re really that obsessed with it, just hand the card over to the professionals who actually deal with this stuff:

If my hunch is right, even they won't be able to do much with it.
Still, I’m crossing my fingers that I'm wrong. 😉

Nothing to lose. He says the diagnostics are free.

Thanks for the link.
The card seems to be behaving itself again; I just shot over 500 photos and everything looks fine—files open without any issues and the metadata is all there.
Anyway, it hasn't happened again. 😁

Basically, 😁

hasn't happened again.

Did you actually run a diagnostic on the card? I don't mean just checking if a photo opens; I mean a real, deep scan to see if the data is actually intact.
