I posted a little poem in "The Voice" thread, and it got nuked immediately. So, I tried again, posting my hip-hop track with a comment about ending censorship, and—surprise, surprise—it was deleted again, and I actually caught a warning for it. Seriously? What kind of censorship is this? Since when does a moderator get to act like a dictator and just silence people on a whim? I didn’t break any rules; my post was perfectly fine and just offered a bit of poetic commentary on the topic. This is basically a total ban on sharing an opinion or expressing yourself.

Where does a moderator get the authority to just act on a whim like that? I didn't break any rules; my post was totally within the guidelines and was basically just a poetic take on the topic. This feels like a straight-up ban on expressing an opinion.

Well, your "poem" calls the contestants nothing but pathetic imitators and hacks, and describes the audience as a bunch of mindless sheep staring at their screens... so, look, since this television network subforum is meant to be for entertainment, and those kinds of insults aren't exactly funny, the post was pulled. The first time was just a deletion. You got the penalty because you doubled down on a post that violates Reddit's rules.
I guess you're entitled to your opinion, but the way you phrased it is just provocative and insulting to the other users here. If you actually want to change things instead of just being condescending toward everyone else's taste, maybe send that poem to PBS; they're the ones producing the show.

So what? It's called poetic license.

Look, since Television is meant to be an entertainment subforum, and expressions and insults like that aren't funny at all, this post is getting deleted.

Everyone can decide for themselves if it's funny or not. Besides, since I wrote it in a hip-hop style, that kind of talk is standard.

You're entitled to your opinion, but the way you put it is just provocative and insults the other users here.

It doesn't insult anyone personally. If some users feel offended, that's their own damn problem. I didn't target any specific person; I was taking a critical look at the show itself, its concept, the performers, and the audience. What's wrong with that? It's all art and expressing an opinion. You think you have the right to unilaterally censor me just because you don't like it. Well, cheers to censorship!

Alright, my bad for calling those mods "scumbags" over there earlier.

By joining a forum, you essentially consent to this "arbitrary censorship," though in any sane discussion, we would simply call it moderation.

It doesn't target anyone specific; it targets everything at once. It’s up to the moderator, as much as possible, to prevent users from feeling insulted. Like my colleague mentioned, that's what moderation actually is. If you had recorded all this and turned it into a clip so we could actually hear and see it to judge whether it works as a joke, maybe it would have been perceived differently.
As for making fun of the show's concept, you're barking up the wrong tree.

Moderation based on actual rules? Sure. But I didn't agree to arbitrary censorship, and I'm still not. I'm filing an appeal, and I'm taking it to a higher authority.

Like I already said, if someone feels offended, that's on them. We can't regulate who gets triggered by which lyric, sentence from a book, or whatever else. Where does it end? And I don't have anything to record and send to some review board. Besides, there's plenty of poetry out there that doesn't even get filmed. This isn't mocking; it's criticism. That show and things like it are a joke themselves—you don't even need to mock them. I just voiced my critique my way. You guys decided to pull it, which is just straight-up censorship, all in the name of protecting someone's "feelings." It's stupid. As they say, it's a total load of bullshit.

I wouldn't call that "artistic liberty." The moderator already gave you a polite heads-up—without even hitting you with a ban, just deleting the post—letting you know that kind of stuff doesn't belong on American Idol.
Then you went ahead and reposted the exact same thing, which is why you got flagged. There’s really no debate here about whether it was offensive or not.
The mods over there have decided that stuff like that just isn't allowed.
That’s why you got the warning, plain and simple: you brought back a deleted post.
