Hmm, Sebastian was only 0.02 seconds behind Lewis, even after that massive lock-up in the third sector. He actually clocked the fastest time in the second sector, and he managed to pull that off during a 12-lap stint. I've got a feeling qualifying is going to be tight—Ferrari will likely be within 0.03 seconds of the top.

Mechanics are actually going to see some real money this year!!! 🤣

Expect plenty of people catching up on sleep during the race on Sunday. 😁

On ABC, the hosts seem to be missing the fact that Pascal is already out 😁

Even the drivers don't seem to grasp that you actually have to complete the lap before the timer runs out 😬

I’ll be honest, I’m really not a fan of this new tire shape at first glance. And what they’ve done to the racing flow is just concerning; during those first six or seven minutes, you had maybe twenty cars spread out on the track, but now? It feels like nobody is even there... I can't help but wonder what happens if there's an accident at a circuit like Monaco with this kind of spacing. You get a red flag to clear the debris, and then suddenly, no one will have any chance to actually set a decent lap time... it's just frustrating, really.

Believe it or not, those bears actually clocked in at three seconds faster than the top speed of a 2013 Formula 1 car.

The new format is garbage—zero tension whatsoever...

Is it actually possible that an old Ferrari engine holds its own against the new ones simply because STR produces much bigger cats?

The whole format is pretty much useless to me. They really should have just let you finish the lap once your time runs out...

How did they mess up this qualifying format so badly? It’s a joke—nobody is even hitting the track because they know they won't have time to fix their laps. Everyone is just sitting there waiting for their window to expire one by one. So much for "excitement" and "tension"—give me a break. This is absolute nonsense.

I’m calling it now: we’ll be back to the old format by the next race.

And honestly, Ferrari has talked up this "super upgrade package" for months, yet here we are, likely fighting for 3rd or 4th. That frustration is going to hit them hard—Sebastian Vettel won't be acting quite so cheerful and witty once he realizes they haven't actually moved an inch from where they started.

The TR has some serious aero going on... it's the second fastest in S3, beating out the Ferrari by 0.2.

Red Bull really didn't stand a chance against STR this morning—it was basically a total blowout.

And once again, not a single soul out on the track—what a total joke 😵

This is already looking better than what we’re seeing from Ferrari....
Qualifying sessions like this just hand everything to the top-tier teams on a silver platter. It would actually be competitive if the cars weren't all such different beasts.
Kimi Raikkonen isn't even heading out; looks like we're just getting more of those ridiculous tactical games 🤣
edit. and Vettel too... what an absolute disaster of a qualifying session. Three minutes left on the clock and there's nobody even on the track 😲
