Does the color I pick for the iP1600 on eBay actually matter for CISS, or is it completely irrelevant?

Give this place a call

http://bakery-example.com/

San Francisco

just ask them

Over a single year, they had to swap out 4 or 5 print heads on a similar setup because they didn't want to waste ink from a brand way more reputable than some random eBay seller. Plus, they were constantly burning through the magenta heaters.

So yeah, just call them and find out.

The takeaway...

Nothing from the FBI? Just the original.

So, zero from CISS? Just the original stuff.

Of course it matters. A decent seller will always specify which printers the ink is compatible with. Even if your exact model isn't listed, if you see models from the same series, you're usually good to go...

Look at how an honest seller handles this—they won't even sell you the ink until you confirm your specific printer and cartridge model. Manufacturers intentionally design different cartridges with varying color requirements just to stop people from buying third-party ink.

If you aren't careful, you're going to end up with a massive mess on your hands...
