I’ll admit, I was actually holding out a little hope—just a tiny, unrealistic sliver of hope—that maybe, just maybe, Lionel Messi would swing by Hajduk Split to give them some much-needed momentum, especially since his contract had wrapped up and he was technically a free agent.

But let’s be real: after that whole missed opportunity with Luka Modrić, they’ve gone and blinked again with Messi because they didn't even bother to put an official offer on the table.
