The Last Witch Hunter (2015)

So, I just heard that The Last Witch Hunter is coming out soon. It’s an upcoming supernatural action flick directed by Breck Eisner. Sounds like it could be a fun ride.
So, Vin Diesel lands the lead role here. He plays this immortal Witch Hunter who’s basically tasked with stopping a plague from tearing through modern-day New York City.
So, the movie hits theaters on October 23, 2015. It looks like a pretty solid lineup too—we've got Vin Diesel leading the charge, joined by Rose Leslie, Elijah Wood, Michael Caine, Darri Ólafsson, and Julia Engelbrecht. Definitely one to keep an eye on.

For centuries, armies of witch hunters have been locked in combat against an unnatural enemy all over the world. That includes Kaulder, this incredibly brave warrior who actually pulled off the impossible by taking down the almighty queen WITCH, wiping out most of her followers along the way.

Right before she kicked the bucket, the queen WITCH slapped Kaulder with a curse of immortality. It was a cruel move—basically ensuring he’d be stuck on this side of the veil forever, totally cut off from his wife and daughter in the afterlife. Now, Kaulder is basically the last of his kind, spending centuries tracking down rogue witches while just wishing he could finally reunite with the people he lost.
But here’s the kicker—Kaulder has no idea that the queen WITCH is actually coming back to life. She’s out for blood, looking to settle the score with the guy who took her down, which basically sets the stage for this massive, epic showdown. It’s one of those high-stakes battles where the whole fate of humanity is hanging in the balance.

This could be a winner.

This might be one of those movies that actually had the potential to be great, but ultimately just ends up being rather mediocre. I suppose I’m hoping I'm wrong about that.

I mean, this feels like the kind of thing Nicolas Cage would jump at without even thinking twice.

This looks just like all the other trash from the last few years—like that Frankenstein flick, then that witch hunter movie with Cage, then Abraham, Dracula, Van Helsing, etc. Seriously, all these movies look identical.

I don't get how they manage to scrape together enough cash for a movie like this and land some big-name actors, only for the final product to be total garbage every single time. And honestly, who is even watching this stuff?🙏

I was part of that audience back before they started churning out these endless, cookie-cutter sci-fi flicks. Every single year, there seem to be about a dozen completely generic sci-fi movies that barely scrape by as mediocre. I suppose I just don't have the energy for it anymore, regardless of how much I used to love the sci-fi and fantasy genres.

I noticed they actually threw in a "you know nothing Jon Snow" reference in this movie. 😁

Even just from the look of this trailer, it feels pretty dull and generic. I honestly don't get how they keep greenlighting movies like this.

Sounds okay, I guess. I'm expecting some mid-tier action flick loaded with a ton of cheesy dialogue.

And let's be real, the title is peak generic, lol. I don't even need to sit through the actual trailer to have a pretty good idea of what kind of movie this is gonna be.

Honestly, I’m just not feeling this at all. It feels like your run-of-the-mill, generic PG-13 attempt at a fantasy-horror mashup, sitting right up there with those mindless movies like I, Frankenstein, van Helsing, or even The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.
