Hulkenberg is talking to Porsche about the 919. Since Porsche is planning to add an extra 919 next season, there are at least three seats open over there, plus nine spots at Nissan.
Lewis Hamilton could easily pull off a season in WEC and then figure out if it's worth returning to F1, or even where. This season, he doesn't have much choice besides McLaren, and that feels like a gamble.

He's done with F1. Fate was kind to him—he won two titles, though arguably undeservedly, driving the most dominant car of that era. He barely scraped by, but he did it... Given how he struggled afterward, he’s lucky to have lasted this long...

Lewis Hamilton is easily one of the top-tier drivers in F1, whether fate decides to play nice or not. He’s proven that more times than I can count, and he’s still showing everyone how it's done this year, even while wrestling that absolute junk pile from Ferrari.

Are you having some trouble accepting reality? 🤦

What can you get in WEC that isn't available in F1? Sure, there aren't any seats right now, but let's face it, F1 pays more. Once he lost that Ferrari seat, taking a chance on McLaren isn't even that crazy... it's not like they won't be decent.
The new engine is a bit of a question mark, but having Honda behind them will definitely mean better support than what they’re getting from Mec right now. Plus, McLaren has actually started bringing in some new talent lately, so things might finally start heading in the right direction...

steelmaker83 said:but like Lewis Hamilton said, all this surface-level stuff you kids are looking at... it's total bullshit

Regarding the choice, nobody has a crystal ball, not even Lewis Hamilton. Like any business move or decision, this one carries the risk of picking the wrong guy... which is just how things work.

The real mess is happening behind the scenes...
Matthews played a masterstroke in the background😉

He managed to get Lewis Hamilton's contract signed such that he killed two massive flies with one swing...
1. No payout for Lewis Hamilton.
2. And more importantly, no payout for Santander, and they'll probably still have to keep the sponsorship going...

And Lewis Hamilton really screwed himself here...
Because there's a huge question whether he can actually land a decent seat without waiting years for a car that might actually be fast. Even bigger question: does he still have Santander's backing and their cash coming with him?
Ferrari might have even considered asking Rosberg or Lewis Hamilton if they could snag Lewis Hamilton's pile of Santander money, but they'll likely just stick with a younger Hamilton for basically the same price...

You can actually secure your future for the next decade here.

In F1? No chance. Just look at the lineup—half these kids are half the age of Lewis Hamilton.

The real question is how much they even need Fernando Alonso.🤷
He’s not exactly in his prime anymore, and if they don't sign him, it's not like anyone else matters for competition anyway...
So, the competition isn't exactly top-tier, but if they take him, they lose any chance of getting Lewis Hamilton back if something goes south at Mec.
The reality is, if Dennis doesn't sign Fernando Alonso, then Fernando might just head for retirement—or a long break that's hard to come back from—in WEC or whatever...

As for Dennis, he's left with Button and Magnussen for a year. If Honda actually turns out to be elite and the car is incredible, he's going to have plenty of problems picking a driver...
Because then you'll have Bottas, Ricciardo, Hamilton, and a whole bunch of other young stars knocking on his door...

So, Lewis Hamilton is walking away without a severance package? 😲>
Has this actually been confirmed somewhere? Because if it has, and assuming Lewis Hamilton doesn't have a guaranteed seat lined up elsewhere—and I’m talking about the top-tier outfits here, like Mercedes, Red Bull, or maybe even McLaren—then I truly don't grasp the logic behind his departure from Ferrari... Was it really just over a refusal regarding a clause about engineer selection and the potential for him to terminate the contract on his own terms every year?

steelmaker83 said:Honestly, I wouldn't even be shocked if Fernando Alonso had some kind of backroom deal already cooked up with Mercedes...

The only other thing is he definitely isn't heading to McLaren because they—well, basically Honda—are pushing for a much longer contract.

The only real option left on the table is Lotus Mercedes

A seat at Lotus comes with a price tag, regardless of whether you're Fernando Alonso or not. If he actually walks away from Santander's sponsorship, then he's truly lost his mind...

gentlecobra23 said:What can he gain in WEC that he just can't get in F1?

He could land a much more relaxed racing schedule and testing sessions—at least in theory, though I hear they're already looking at adding new races to the calendar. Plus, there's the support from top-tier teams and the shot at joining that tiny club of drivers who’ve actually won both an F1 title and the 24h Le Mans. And honestly, sponsors would jump at the chance to back him, even if I doubt money is really what's driving Lewis Hamilton at this point.

What’s the word on Formula E

His buddy Jarno Trulli is right there—maybe he could pull a stunt and drive for him!?

Word on the street is that Movistar should probably be stepping up to sponsor him instead.

Is there any actual path for him to finish in Indy? Any at all?

I’ve got a gut feeling everything is already signed, sealed, and delivered behind closed doors, but they haven't officially dropped the news yet so guys like me don't have anything to tear apart

Zero.

I'm scrolling through the comments right now—some guy's claiming nobody in IndyCar is willing to mess around with his ego or political games.

But honestly, guys like Fernando Alonso just don't cut it in IndyCar.

Over there, you shut up and drive. The second you start acting like a philosopher, you're out of the team.

Look, Daniel Wheldon was a total nightmare to deal with—super egoistical—so both Andretti and Ganassi kicked him to the curb. But man, he was a killer behind the wheel. One of the absolute best

He ended up stuck in that Panther car, which was basically a rolling junk heap

And then, to top it all off, he finished his run with the bottom-feeders over at Herta

Michael Diaz4 said:👍 I believe that could actually happen... Goodness, it seems like the Ferrari fans have already gone quiet on the forums... There isn't a single one to be found anywhere...😁

Krivino, you’re being exhausting. Honestly, are you secretly obsessed with Lewis Hamilton? It seems like every single time you post, it’s just more whining about his "incompetence" and all that nonsense. Just give it a rest already. 🤦

Off-topic.
Lewis Hamilton says that his status won't be on par with Furkan's. As for his standing with God, he's probably got maybe two, possibly three more seasons left before it's all over.
Is McLaren actually a solid choice? I mean, if they even decide to pull the trigger on them... who knows. But honestly, in my opinion, they're looking better than Ferrari right now.
I believe Honda will deliver an incredible engine in terms of raw performance, but I can't help but worry about the reliability side of things. There’s also the issue of how well it'll actually integrate with these current chassis. From what I’ve gathered, they aren't even allowed to run tests on this year's cars, which leaves me feeling a bit uneasy about the whole transition. ☕
The bar will know once he’s had a taste.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I honestly think Quick Nick would be his biggest threat for a podium finish.
