...2014 is the only season where the Scuderia was actually uncompetitive.
Sure, we haven't grabbed a title in six years for whatever reason, but we’ve also choked away two championships on the very last lap of the season.
This current season has been a total disaster from every angle, but hey, that's just sports.

Dennis at McLaren isn't exactly the alpha or the omega these days, let alone both.
On the other hand, Lewis Hamilton at McLaren sounds interesting. ruggedhawk20 claims Dennis set up a trap for Lewis, but I think Ron is just scrolling through his phone looking for Brawn's number to ask him for a recommendation on a fishing rod.
We'll see.

Dennis actually founded the entire McLaren group and serves as its chairman. He holds a 25% stake, and between him and Ojjeh, they control 50% plus one extra share. The rest is owned by the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa ali Khalifa. That said, Dennis is currently in the middle of buying back 25% from the King and another 12.5% from Ojjeh. 😬
So, there isn't even a theoretical chance of anyone ousting Dennis.
Which effectively means Lewis has nothing to gain at McLaren—not even a little bit. 😒

I'm with you on this. I find it impossible to believe Dennis would swallow his pride and call Lewis Hamilton back. He already took the hit once because of him, and I truly don't believe he'd let himself be burned twice...
And given that reality, it looks like there really is nowhere left for Lewis Hamilton in F1...

Honestly, "marriages of convenience" seem to be a foreign concept in today's F1. Are they even a thing anymore?

All the ingredients are sitting right there on the table.
It’s hard for McLaren to find something they don't already lack. They're missing a solid driver lineup. As for the money, those sponsors will show up with the Japanese partners regardless of whether Lewis Hamilton signs or not.

Honda needs someone to basically babysit their new engine during that first season. It’s no surprise they’d want Fernando Alonso.
I suspect Dennis will only agree if the terms of the move are absolutely humiliating for Fernando. I don't know the specifics, but I wouldn't be surprised if the contract technically reads: "Fernando Alonso agrees to be Ron Dennis's errand boy for one year."
