Leo Turrin says it's official: Ferrari and Fernando Alonso have ended their partnership and There will be an announcement this weekend.

So PitLaneTalk is out here claiming Fernando Alonso is heading over to McLaren in 2015 and ditching his spot at Ferrari—man, those sources sure are top-tier, aren't they?

#LCDM: "We're honestly so proud to wrap up such a massive chapter here. He (Alonso) left it all on the track and put on some truly legendary shows..."

I just want Hulk.

What would you even do with Hulk?
He’s even more of a calculator than Fernando. He isn't anywhere near championship material.

On topic. It's a shame about Fernando. It'll be tough for him to grab a title at McLaren; it'll likely just be a continuation of the struggle, just in a different car this time.

steelmaker83 said:Total nonsense. Ferrari should have been the peak of Alonso's career. Sure, they couldn't build a competitive car (except maybe back in 2010), but saying it's a good thing he's leaving because he's being pushed out is just stupid. Ferrari is an institution, period. Every time someone leaves, they're stepping down.

And just because you're stepping down doesn't mean that lower level isn't still faster and better than where you're going next....

Exactly. Plus, the absolute worst move anyone can make is trying to crawl back to a team you left on bad terms...

Times change...
Back in Prost's era, you didn't have 16-year-old kids signing contracts for next season's seat before they could even vote 😉

By today's standards, even someone like Sebastian Vettel looks relatively old 🤣
Good grief, look at the lineup—he's the oldest one on the Red Bull roster... and compared to Fernando, he's practically a toddler 🤣

Even someone like Sebastian Vettel feels old by today's standards—honestly, it's kind of wild. 🤣
Man, just look at him—he’s easily the oldest driver on the Red Bull roster... and honestly, age-wise, he’s practically a kid compared to Fernando Alonso. 🤣

Whatever happened, happened—it wasn't 16, more like 18—take Mike Thackwell, for example.

I wouldn't even start counting Verstappen yet—he isn't even behind the wheel. All we know is whether he'll actually get a seat in 2015 or if they just dump him at Renault.

The mere fact that he’s returning actually proves those relationships weren't nearly as toxic as the public perception suggested. Even back when withmarsh was running things, he mentioned how much he regretted how things ended with Fernando and said he’d welcome him back in a heartbeat.

So, looking back, it was pretty clear his exit was just a mix of personal friction with Dennis and the obvious allure of the Ferrari deal. It made perfect sense for him to move on at the time.

As for McLaren—if they still hold any grudges—they really need to let it go. They're getting one of the best drivers on the grid. Fernando definitely has another season or two of this caliber left in him, and he serves as the perfect bridge for those next couple of years while they hunt for the next big thing.

We need Red Bull Racing.

Looks like the new boss decided it was time to clean house and fix some relationships. Someone—a newcomer—suddenly thinks they can just hand out favors left and right.

My wish list:
Sebastian Vettel
Daniel Ricciardo
Valtteri Bottas - Jules Bianchi

And I definitely don't want Nico Rosberg.

Here is the article from >, though I remain characteristically skeptical regarding the rumors.
The word on the street is that both parties have essentially accepted an inevitable split, and that only a massive, unforeseen pivot could somehow salvage their partnership.
The supposed sticking point? Well, it appears Ferrari is aware they won't be fielding a championship contender next season, while Lewis Hamilton is looking for a title shot sooner rather than later.

Lewis Hamilton just isn't in that same bracket.

I'd argue Lewis Hamilton is firmly in that elite group of five or six best drivers to ever sit in a cockpit.

As for Kimi? He doesn't even crack my top 20.

Here’s the article from Autosport, who are being predictably cautious about the rumors.
The word is both sides have basically accepted a split is coming, and only some massive miracle could keep them together.
Supposedly, the sticking point is that Ferrari knows they won't have a title contender next year, while Lewis Hamilton wants a shot at the championship ASAP.

And there’s the catch. Even though nothing is official yet, none of this actually adds up. If you follow this logic, it implies Honda knows they'll have a championship car ready next season, which feels off given their recent updates suggest they're lagging behind and will likely deal with some growing pains early on. I don't know. It feels more like Lewis Hamilton is leaving because the landscape at Ferrari is shifting and nobody is untouchable anymore. No matter how good he is—and he is good—there's always a factor involving the driver. Not that any of the fanboys would ever admit it.
Speaking of rumors, if Vettel actually shows up, I couldn't be happier. Kimi stays, and Kimi can work with anyone. Regardless of what people call him, he’s become a total team player. That’s a rare trait. If Vettel joins, those two together guarantee a brighter future for Ferrari, one where everyone quickly forgets about Lewis Hamilton.
Whether he deserved more, could have done more, or if it was his own fault... I haven't got a clue. Two titles are no small feat, and there are plenty of drivers out there who earned a few extra trophies just like him.
If these reports are true and he moves to Honda, I wish him luck, though I doubt much will come of it. They're going to need a lot of time to technically catch up to Red Bull, Mercedes, or Williams, regardless of who's behind the wheel.

Here’s the article, though even the usually cautious folks over at Autosport are playing along with the rumors...

The rumor mill says the sticking point is that Ferrari knows they won't have a title contender next year, while Lewis Hamilton just wants a shot at the championship as soon as possible...

The biggest joke would be if they actually build a decent car. To me, it doesn't look like Ferrari's aero is the main issue, it's more like that engine unit is killing them...

Jacob White49 said:Lewis Hamilton is one of the top 5 or 6 drivers of all time.

Kimi isn't even in the top 20.

I'm pretty sure nobody sane puts Lewis Hamilton in the top 5 of all time. Find me one relevant person in Formula 1 who actually thinks that, and I'll be the first to admit he's among the best...🙏

Anyway, what happened to that Vettel replacing Lewis Hamilton idea? Why is everyone so certain he's heading to McLaren when there might even be a spot at Red Bull...

Anyway, what’s the deal with that Vettel replacing Lewis Hamilton rumor? Why is everyone so convinced he's heading to McLaren when there might actually be an opening at Red Bull...

That's a whole different ballgame. If he lands at Red Bull, anything could happen. They're looking way more serious right now.
Then again, if Red Bull is truly that dominant, Vettel would be the first to realize it—so why even bother making the move?
Man, this is turning into the most interesting subplot of the season so far.😵

I'm fairly certain nobody with a lick of sense is going to put Lewis Hamilton in the top five drivers of all time. Find me one serious Formula 1 expert who actually puts him there, and I’ll be the first to admit he belongs in that elite tier. 🙏

Anyway, what’s the deal with this whole Vettel to Lewis Hamilton swap rumor? Why is everyone so convinced he’s heading to McLaren when there might even be an opening at Red Bull...

He beat a Schumacher who was dealing with a massive power deficit and a subpar car... that's just one out of a hundred different reasons...

This isn't a discussion about Lewis Hamilton's career; we already have a thread dedicated to that. This topic is specifically about the potential split between Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari, and the possibility of him moving to a different team. Naturally, we should also explore the reasons why such a move might happen.

Here is the article, and regarding the rumors, I’m staying proverbially cautious with Autosport.
Word is both sides have essentially accepted a split, and it would take a massive miracle to extend the partnership.
The bottleneck seems to be that Ferrari knows they won't have a championship-winning car next year, while Fernando wants his shot at the title as soon as possible.

It’s been noticeable over the last few weeks—even months—that on Autosport.com, you occasionally see some "semi-tabloid" style reporting popping up, almost as if they're trying to compete with the standard gossip sites like Motorsport.com or Paddock Talk.

It feels strange, unusual, and intriguing all at once.

P.S. Good luck, Fernando. Go out there and finish what you started at McLaren; grab those world titles. You deserved them back in 2007 and 2008. Best of luck! 🎉

A brief interview pulled from the official website that seems to hint at a potential move over to Ferrari:

I find myself particularly drawn to this specific response from Button regarding his future with McLaren: There are always other options in life!
