I just stumbled upon this article about Denzel Washington—it was over at Bitno.net, actually—discussing how he encourages younger actors to lean into prayer.
Naturally, I got curious, so I ended up falling down a Wikipedia rabbit hole reading through his whole life story.
To be honest, he’s always been one of my favorite actors—mostly because I’ve always felt that if he’s in the cast, you can pretty much guarantee the movie won't be a total disaster. But after really digging into who he is—reading his history, listening to what he says, seeing how he carries himself—everything just kind of clicks. You start to see how his roles actually reflect his own character... it gives you this sense that he's just a genuinely "normal," grounded guy.
The man was born in '53, he's a pro, and he's been married since '83. It got me thinking recently—is there actually anyone left in Hollywood who stays with just one spouse? Someone who hasn't gone through the whole messy divorce cycle? I knew there had to be someone out there, but I couldn't for the life of me think of a single name. He was the first one to cross my mind.
He's an interesting character, though.

So, does anyone else know of a celebrity—actor, singer, or just some famous public figure, doesn't have to be an American—who hasn't succumbed to all the usual temptations and chaos of fame? Who is a public figure you find interesting because they actually seem to have those kinds of steady, solid qualities?

Man, I really thought Ivica Šerfezi was basically the American Tom Hanks—one of those rare, legendary actors. Turns out, I might have been wrong about that! 🙏

We’ve also got Charlton Heston in the mix, along with the slightly less famous Jonathan Frakes (who played William Riker over in Star Trek).

Great topic. A few names just come to mind immediately
Daniel Day-Lewis
Francis Ford Coppola
Antonio Banderas
I'm not entirely certain, but I think Paul Newman was with his second wife for over 40 years

Keanu Reeves. He lost his fiancée and his sister... Ever since then, he just hasn't seemed interested in romance at all—instead, he stays focused on his movies and charity work. He keeps his philanthropy totally low-key, even though rumors say he’s donated a massive fortune to good causes—he lives in a regular apartment rather than some flashy Hollywood mansion, doesn't he?

Kurt Russell & Goldie Hawn 😍, they aren't officially married, but they've been an inseparable couple since the early 80s.

I can't be 100% certain, but I think Paul Newman was with his second wife for over 40 years, if I remember correctly.

Antonio Banderas married his first wife, Ana Leza, on July 27, 1987. They split up in May 1995 once he started seeing actress Melanie Griffith during the filming of Two Much. Banderas and Leza finalized their divorce in April 1996, and just a month later, on May 14, 1996, he tied the knot with Melanie Griffith in a small, private ceremony in New York City.

Look, we can't exactly sit here and claim we're perfect—none of us can, really. But I've always felt that one hallmark of truly "good" people is doing kind things without feeling the need to broadcast it to the world.

Keanu Reeves really didn't deserve all those setbacks...
By the way, we should probably mention Matt Damon—he actually met his wife at a coffee shop while she was working there as a waitress. 🙂
Then there's Christian Bale... It just goes to show there are plenty of incredibly successful people out there who never bowed down to the Hollywood elite.

Looks like Banderas is joining the club of the newly divorced again.☕

But... wasn't he the one who provided that fatal cocktail to River Phoenix?
I think I read somewhere that he was actually responsible for River's death.

Maybe we brought this on ourselves by mentioning him here. I sort of knew it might happen. 😢

Most of those relationships are just PR stunts anyway. Honestly, that whole bit was hilarious when they did the parody with James Franco on 30 Rock.

Marriage? Please. In that circle, it’s just a money pit that doesn't even last.

There are exceptions, though, mostly with the old guard. If I recall correctly, Tom Hanks is a pretty solid example of someone who actually gets it right.
