Let’s be specific—nimbletinker10 seems to be his personal thorn in the side, someone he feels the need to call out constantly:
He’s addressing her here: Feb 27, 2014, 12:30 PM
Then, just a day later, she’s suddenly "boring."
And here, he’s being provocative...
In this one, he claims nimbletinker10 is acting aggressively—and as for his comments regarding "maturity," let’s be real, that’s just an insult:
On a completely different thread (), he actually asked a woman for advice on washing machines. She told him she owns a Miele and is absolutely thrilled with it, and now the guy won't stop talking about the brand. It all started back when he was whining about how he $2833 can't afford to live in his own apartment because money is just vanishing. Some people told him he was being irresponsible, others offered suggestions—I think even nimbletinker10 gave him a few solid pointers—but the guy chronically fails to grasp the concept of shared living. When anyone tries to explain it to him, no matter how helpful the advice is, he immediately goes into this defensive crouch, acting like he's being attacked or just wasn't understood 🤣
It’s just the same loop over and over.
First, it was the money issues—complaining about not having a million-dollar house (which is incredibly expensive to furnish these days)—and then people told him he'd messed up...
Now, he's arguing here about which vacuum cleaner is better, just so he can claim that he ACTUALLY has plenty of cash but "needs to save, because you never know."
In another thread earlier, he mentioned his wife is pregnant and they need to buy gear for the baby, implying they're broke.
And yet, he also mentioned that she’s actually the one managing the funds (even though here he’s talking about joint accounts)
Basically, it feels like trolling. Because if you don't have money, you don't have money—you don't suddenly manifest $25,000 in your bank account and then keep insisting you can't afford a washing machine while obsessively clinging to the Miele brand. He didn't even ask *why* Miele—just "it's expensive"—and nobody told him he HAD to buy it. Plus, picking fights with people is getting tedious to watch. It isn't a case of "I'm trying to understand," it's more like "You're different, therefore you're wrong."
Here, after my countless explanations (yeah, I know, I'm an idiot, I actually thought he was genuinely interested), he's twisting my words regarding what I consider selfish:
Simultaneously, he's throwing shade at me, claiming people with separate bank accounts are selfish, while mocking nimbletinker10's views on privacy.
He keeps repeating like a parrot that he doesn't see the point of separate accounts, but no explanation is ever good enough for him.
But he definitely goes after nimbletinker10:
I don't know why he's targeting nimbletinker10 like this; publicly, it looks like he's obsessively fixated on that Miele washing machine—the very one HE asked about in the savings thread.
That is what's truly bizarre and honestly exhausting. Like, seriously, how much longer is this going to go on? 🤷
As for my own experience... I don't know, maybe it’s because I didn't go easy on him in his DMs when he was insisting—quite loudly, I might add—that everyone participating in this budget thread was basically an idiot who had never lived a day in the real world. Ironically, the community actually stepped up with some incredibly solid advice and ideas. I thought he was being relatively chill on the sub-forum at first, so I didn't bother tracking who was who or who had been part of these circles longer; I just tried to tell him to take it down a notch and that people actually *want* to help since they have actual life experience. It was all for nothing.
And then this whole thing spilled over into the other thread.
Look, I have zero issue with someone disagreeing, being uninformed, or simply refusing to learn. What I *do* have an issue with is the constant jumping at people with ad hominem attacks. He targeted me once or twice, sure, but regarding nimbletinker10, he became downright exhausting. Other people mentioning they have separate bank accounts didn't seem to trigger him nearly as much—if they hadn't, this wouldn't be such a massive outlier.
And that "you have money, you don't have money" bit? Yeah, it reeks of trolling.
I haven't seen what was scrubbed from Richard Lewis16's posts so I can't say what was actually there, but I'm referring to what's left on the screen.
Even if he did get a warning via DM from the moderation team about resorting to personal attacks, clearly it didn't stick.
I originally came here for a topic I actually care about, but I caught wind of this and realized I wasn't the only one feeling the pressure from his constant twisting of words—both mine and others'. I sent in a report, but I didn't see any real response to that specific thread. Honestly, I can't even remember which specific post it was anymore; he's on my ignore list now, and quite frankly, I don't feel like opening his stuff just to remind myself why I clicked the "ignore" button in the first place.
When I finally asked him to actually quote me—since he kept flipping my statements around—he just went silent...
That was the moment I concluded that—in my opinion—he's just a troll, not a legitimate participant in a debate.
Honestly, this isn't even a discussion anymore; it's more like... whatever you want to call it. These are links from the last few pages, but his blatant intolerance for anything that doesn't align with his worldview pops up constantly. You won't miss out on the drama, though; there's plenty more of that in the budget thread.
For instance, right at the start, he claims people are starving and only surviving on handouts from their parents:
And then he starts mocking anyone who says they can manage on those (lower) amounts, implying "only people with Mom and Dad's help can survive on that":
Which is hilarious, considering people are chiming in saying they live independently on even less than that two-person budget...
So, yeah... very riveting reading material. 😬
We don't all have to be perfectly pleasant, but IMO, basic conversational etiquette dictates that you don't twist people's words, snap at your interlocutors, or jump down their throats—especially not after spending an hour talking to someone only to suddenly brush them off with "why are you even talking to me?" or "why are you commenting on my stuff?" 🤷
It's perfectly fine if a kid knows nothing about finance. It's just getting tedious watching him flail his arms around and scream that nobody else understands anything, all while throwing insults—no matter how "classily" he tries to wrap them up. 🤷
