Unless you happen to live right here in Washington, D.C., where you could actually meet up with the guy and test out the card in person before handing over the cash... that's what I'd probably do.

And once again, there's zero guarantee it hasn't been overheated or patched together just to turn on—only to die two days later... I'm hunting for something with a solid warranty that actually makes sense, but there's nothing decent on Craigslist. Some people are trying to flip a 7850 for 1000-$400, which is basically what you'd pay for a brand-new one... honestly, I can't even tell if it's worth the gamble anymore.

Prices are basically pulled out of thin air at this point. They’re asking $133 for a 5770, yet they've got a GTX 560 sitting there for $300. And then there's the GTX 260 listed for $133. 😵

Honestly, you could probably grab a 5770 for maybe $400 max—pretty much on par with a GTX 260 $17—but if logic holds, a GTX 560 should be worth closer to $800 or even more... I'm no hardware expert, but even so, there’s definitely something sketchy about that listing.

The 5770 isn't worth much more than $30. $133It's basically the same value as a GTX 260. You can grab a GTX 280 for $117 without any hesitation. A GTX 560 should go for about $200.
To be honest, those prices in the link look suspicious; I wouldn't dream of doing business with someone like that. 🙂

It doesn't seem like a huge upgrade 🙂 $217 compared to something like a GTX 560.

EDIT:

That price looks alright... though maybe $17 you could drop it a bit.

That price isn't right. There's zero warranty included, and you can grab a GTX 750Ti for roughly $367. Plus, you won't even need a specialized power supply for that card, which is a huge money saver.

Most likely.

If they refuse to meet up in person, you already know where this is headed. Even if they are willing to meet, there's a good chance they're just some guy scavenging broken cards to try his luck at refurbishing them.

I need an AGP graphics card to give my PC a little boost up to $67, used is fine.
Right now I'm running an NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200, but my macOS graphics score is sitting at 3.4. I’d like something better if possible—ideally something that supports Metal and Vulkan... plus I need it to handle the macOS Aero effects without lagging.

Here are my system specs; let me know if you need anything else:

Hey there.
I need some advice on a GPU upgrade for under $500 that won't choke my current setup. I'm running an AMD Ryzen 3 1200 on an ASRock H81M board, paired with a Corsair CX430 PSU, 8GB of Kingston DDR3, and a 1TB WD Blue drive. My monitor is a Samsung Odyssey G5.
I was eyeing this EVGA GeForce GTX 970, but honestly, I'm not sure if it'll play nice with my rig—most people using one seem to have way beefier CPUs than mine.

Maybe something like this, though I wouldn't expect any miracles from old AGP cards... honestly, you might be better off just saving up for something modern.

Meh... I'd probably just save my money $283 and go with an H81 board paired with a G1820 and 4GB of RAM. Honestly, even the integrated graphics on Intel's processor are likely better than that HD 3650

It looks like the GTX 750 Ti is finally making its way in. Right now, they’re priced about the same as the 7850
. Honestly, I think we need to see those prices drop a bit more; being this close to the 270
mark just doesn't make sense.

It’ll happen, just look at the price 250X, which should end up being cheaper than the hd7770 replacement—actually, it's the exact same card but $10 less. Then there are also the 750 and the 750Ti models.

I expect prices will drop by about 15% within the week; we'll see the 250X hit ~$200, the 260X fall below $267, and the 265 go under $333. We also need to push the r7 260.
There is an excellent selection of cards available in the 600-$333 range.

Prices will definitely drop soon. For instance, the price of a 750Ti here plummeted by about 200-$83 in just a few days.
It seems like you don't need to rush out and buy the second a new card hits the shelves. Intel basically ordered a price slash on the 260X, which doesn't move much stock over here.
Card prices in the States are a joke; take the 260X, for example—it's roughly 555-$203, while a Sapphire 265 goes for about $277. Realistically, things here are at least 20-30% higher.

By the way, if anyone remembers back in the fall (before the new series arrived), the HD7770 was sitting around 670-$227 at Best Buy, and then suddenly spiked by at least $33 until recently. So, that 250X price isn't anything special; honestly, it should be even lower since half a year has passed since then.

I’m currently running a Pentium 4 clocked at 3.00 GHz inside a Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo p5905. My motherboard is a D2151, and I'm currently relying on the Intel ® 82945 g express chipset Family 128 mb for graphics. I do have a PCI express x16 slot available, though. I am looking to install a new dedicated graphics card—something along the lines of an ATI Radeon HD 5450 or a similar model. The catch is that my power supply is only rated at 260 w. I would greatly appreciate some guidance on this.

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend going down that route if I were you—mainly because your processor is just too weak. It’ll almost certainly act as a massive bottleneck, meaning you won't actually be able to push that graphics card to its full potential during gaming. And, don't take this the wrong way, but I'm honestly not sure which "modern" games that CPU can even handle 😁 (assuming you're looking to play some actual games on this rig)
.
It might be better to save up for a whole new setup instead. For roughly $1000, you could put together a system with an integrated GPU that would already outperform the ATI Radeon HD 5450. You'd get a new motherboard, 4GB of RAM, a fresh power supply, a hard drive, and a case. Honestly? Doing this current upgrade feels like throwing money straight into the wind..

My main priority here is just covering the basics. This machine is capable enough to run The Sims 2 and GTA san Andreas. Is there any chance I could swap in something else—ideally something a bit more low-profile?
