If they’re offering a warranty—at least two years—then it ought to be brand new. Between those two, I’d go with the Hex.

Hi there,

I've been looking at the GeForce GTX 960 with 2GB of VRAM, spending my time digging through online reviews and various forum threads.

It's a bit confusing, honestly. Some people swear by them, while others absolutely hate them—there doesn't seem to be any middle ground.

So, I figured I'd reach out to you guys here for some local advice.

Given the current price point, does it make sense to pick up something like a JetStream model?

Thanks in advance,

Mario

I wouldn't even bother looking at those graphics cards anymore; I'm just counting down the days until my Radeon RX 470 arrives in a few days.

Wait, I’m looking at this now and I’m completely out of the loop.

So this one is going to be way more powerful, but somehow it's actually cheaper?

...wut?

Exactly. You get a much better price-to-performance ratio here; it’s pretty standard when you see a brand-new manufacturing process hit the market.

So, does that mean the GeForce GTX 960 will be significantly weaker?

Will I run into any issues if I'm using an ASUS motherboard that's about 5 or 6 years old, or should I look into replacing that too?

It might not be a massive drop in performance, just not worth the money

The motherboard shouldn't be an issue since the PCIe slot is a universal standard, but if your CPU and board are five or six years old, you might run into a bottleneck. If you're rocking something older like an Intel Core 2 Quad, a GTX 1650 might actually be a more balanced fit for your rig. Honestly, though, it's probably best to just wait and see how it all plays out.

Alright then.

Thanks for the heads-up.

I was one click away from pulling the trigger on that purchase; I'm glad you stepped in 🙂

Hey there.
I'm looking at this graphics card and trying to figure out which motherboard would actually work with it, plus I need a decent processor to match. The rig is strictly for gaming. Right now, I've got a 550W FSP Raider PSU and 8GB of Kingston DDR3 HyperX Fury RAM running at 1866 MHz.

What's the asking price? A new generation of cards is hitting the market fast, so unless this is an absolute steal, I wouldn't touch it.

Maybe around $467, but if you haggle, you could probably snag it for less.

Reddit wtf, that isn't even an offer, it's a total scam. 😁 You can barely find any of them around here for...$500...and you think that's an "offer"... $33 Got it now. For those... $467 You should be able to snag a GTX 1050 Ti that’ll actually be a much better card once it drops in a week or two. Whatever you do, don't grab that one now. It just isn't worth it... $333 I’d give that some serious thought before doing anything, especially if we're talking about $1,400. 🤣

That’s exactly why I’m asking here—I don't have any experience with this stuff. I wasn't planning on pulling the trigger immediately anyway, so if there's new hardware on the horizon, I might just wait.

Hahahahahahahahahah, for a split second a GTX 1060 6 popped up on Best Buy for $966, but they yanked it immediately because there's no way that price was legit 🤣 👏

Then an MSI card hit Amazon for $499 😂, but that vanished just as fast too... over at Newegg, prices look normal and match what was actually announced

On Amazon US, I saw it listed for about $290. Once you factor in the sales tax, you're looking at roughly $707. It might be slightly more expensive here in the States, but anything over that price point is just a total rip-off (which is definitely what we'll see when they first launch them)

That was probably just some random eBay seller. Amazon will likely stick closer to MSRP, but expect prices to be all over the place during the first few weeks

Non-disclosures 😒

So, reviews should start dropping after 3 PM. 😬

Tech of Tomorrow already posted theirs, and I'm liking it so far.

They just mentioned the overclocking is garbage.
