Personally, I’d probably go with this one just because it comes equipped with a 650W Gold power supply!

The RAM seems a little light for me, though, so if I picked that up, I'd end up having to buy extra memory along with an HDD anyway.

I actually pulled the trigger yesterday and ordered that HP OMEN instead.

Hey everyone.
So, I've got this Radeon RX 460 in my rig. While I was using it, the screen just went pitch black—no signal at all. I'm pretty sure the card finally kicked the bucket. Once I pulled the GPU out, the integrated graphics on the motherboard started working fine, so it’s looking like the card is definitely the culprit.

Does anyone know if there's any chance the actual PCIe slot on the motherboard is busted? I'm really hoping it's not that, because I'd rather not drop cash on a new card if the slot itself is the problem. Or is that basically impossible?

Also, I've been browsing for replacements and the ZOTAC Nvidia GeForce GT1030 with 2 GB GDDR5 caught my eye.
Has anyone actually used this card? Would it be a decent move for me? My PC is mostly just a media station for browsing the web, YouTube, and streaming movies. Honestly, the current integrated graphics aren't cutting it nearly as well as my old RX 460 did.

Thanks for the help, guys.

It’s technically possible, I suppose, though I’d say it’s highly unlikely given how things are looking right now. Honestly, looking at the current state of the market, I can't see much point in dropping cash on a dedicated card when an integrated solution would likely handle everything you've mentioned just fine.

I have an AMD Radeon RX 460 graphics card. While I was using my computer, the screen just went black and there's been no signal on the monitor since. I'm assuming the graphics card finally kicked the bucket. Once I pulled the card out, the Integrated GPU on the motherboard started working again, so I'm pretty sure the issue lies specifically with the dedicated card.

Could anyone tell me if there's any chance the fault actually lies with the PCIe slot on the motherboard instead? I'd love to avoid buying a new card if it's just a faulty slot, though I wonder if that's even a realistic possibility.

I've also been browsing for potential replacements, and the ZOTAC Nvidia GeForce GT 1030 with 2 GB GDDR5 caught my eye.
Does anyone here have hands-on experience with this specific model, and would it be a solid choice considering my PC is mostly used for web browsing, YouTube, and watching movies? The current Integrated GPU isn't quite performing as well for those tasks as my old RX 460 did.

Thanks in advance for the help.
Andrew

In what way is it performing worse? Which Integrated GPU are we talking about here?

I actually own a different GT 1030 with passive cooling, and it works perfectly fine; if you aren't planning on gaming, I'd suggest grabbing the cheapest one you can find—ideally a passive one—just make sure it has GDDR5 memory.

Have you thought about trying to move the AMD Radeon RX 460 to a different slot just to test it out?

I actually have another Nvidia GeForce GT 1030 (the one with passive cooling) and it works great. If you aren't planning on heavy gaming, just grab the cheapest one you can find—bonus points if it's passive—but make sure it's the GDDR5 version.

Why don't you try moving that AMD Radeon RX 460 to a different slot just to test it out?

Lines are showing up on the screen and things are stuttering a bit. Using the Intel HD Graphics.

I'll give moving the card a shot.
Any other graphics cards you guys would recommend?
Thanks.
Best,

Best,

You might need to be a bit more specific—which exact Intel processor are you running? I noticed you mentioned HD instead of Ultra HD, so I assume we aren't dealing with anything too recent.

Your best bets would likely be an AMD Radeon RX 550 or perhaps a Nvidia Quadro P400 (though that one is quite a bit weaker than a GT 1030, and definitely lags behind the RX 550 when it comes to gaming).

Honestly, it doesn't matter much which brand you pick among those three; as I mentioned before, just go with whichever one is the cheapest.

You can snag an extra 10% off graphics cards on e-commerce sites when you use your JPMorgan Chase card here:

Wouldn't that be pretty sweet for an RX 6800$3667?

They sent this link to my email and man, I was floored. About six months back, a massive lightning strike fried a bunch of my gear, including my GPU, so I had to scramble and pick up a 1660 Super for roughly $633. Now I'm looking at this listing on an e-commerce site... over four thousand bucks?! Sorry for dropping in like a total amateur here—I'm sure you guys have seen it all—but that price tag just hit me out of nowhere. I haven't really kept tabs on the market since I grabbed my current card.

I'm really torn on whether a 3080 is actually worth getting just for gaming $3.25 compared to the 6800XT, or if Nvidia is just being completely shameless with their pricing right now.

I finally got my hands on an RTX 3070 for my setup the other day!

We were actually just chatting about this in the thread a few days ago, and I ended up pulling the trigger on that OMEN 25L

I originally posted this back in January. Now, having taken a casual glance at some listings on Craigslist, I see the asking price for an RX580 8 gb is sitting at $1333 ? 😲
I am certainly aware of the current market volatility and the general supply shortages, but one has to wonder: is this crowd demanding 3000-4000 bucks simply being wildly optimistic, or is anyone actually purchasing an RX580 at those prices?

In all honesty, if I could triple my money within a three-month window, I would likely offload it immediately; after all, the card is essentially gathering dust since I haven't even launched a single game on it yet. The fans have only spun up because I manually triggered them just to clear out a bit of dust. 😁

I get how the market is right now and how everything is out of stock, but are these people asking 300-400 bucks just being delusional optimists or does an RX580 actually go for that much?

If I could flip my cash three times in three months, I’d probably sell it. This card is basically just sitting there gathering dust since I haven't even launched a single game on it. The fans have only spun because I manually turned them on to blow some dust out... 😁

If your rig dies and you need it for work, you'll pay whatever it takes. Otherwise, everyone's just being told to hold off until things settle down. A GPU costs as much as a whole PC did two years ago... 😵

Look, Nvidia isn't the one calling the shots on the final price tag here.🤣

I mean, if I could flip my money three times over in just three months, I’d probably sell it. It's basically just sitting there unused anyway since I haven't even launched a single game on it yet. The fans have only spun up because I manually turned them on just to blow some dust out of the card. 😁

If a miner comes along looking for one, go for it. List it for 400 and if it sells, great. Just make sure you have a backup plan, because finding any graphics card in this market is tough. Even the older generations have jumped in price because there's simply nothing available.

I would buy it from you immediately for $11! :z: Yeah, the RX580 8GB goes for around $50-$60 in retail stores, though they're only available sporadically. I suspect they're more appealing to miners, whereas gamers could probably pick up a new GTX 1660 for even less.

Hey everyone... I had originally intended to put together a new PC either just before or during the summer months—but the current situation regarding graphics cards (specifically the total lack of availability) has made things quite complicated... I was wondering if anyone here might know when we can expect the 1650 Super to be back in stock at retailers such as Walmart or General Motors... Thanks in advance.

I honestly have my doubts that we'll see much more of this. Now that Nvidia is busy churning out dedicated mining cards on a 12nm process and selling them at a premium, there just isn't any real incentive to keep messing around with this stuff.

So, I just finished tearing down my Sapphire RX 580 to swap out the thermal paste, but man, that stuff is basically ancient at this point—nearly two years old. Honestly, I'm sitting here wondering if it's even worth upgrading for 1080p gaming once prices finally settle down. I was looking at maybe grabbing an RX 5500, but who knows? Something newer might drop by then.
