You should've sold it for $220 a year ago.

Yeah, true, but I definitely wouldn't be dropping $550 on a 6700xt back then either.

That's why you won't be able to sell your 580 for $100 either.

Would love to get some expert eyes on this card.

Is there anything actually better out there that won't absolutely wreck my bank account in this same class?

Thanks

Is there anything better or more budget-friendly in this same tier?

Thanks.

What resolution are you running on your monitor?

Just Full HD for now—though I’m definitely thinking about making the jump to 1440p sooner or later...

There isn't anything better or cheaper in this class, I guess..

Expert opinion? It’s ugly. Period. 😁

Look, if you’re just desperate to drop cash on a GPU because you want it that badly, then go ahead and buy it. There isn't really anything else worth chasing here. But let’s be real—even this card isn't a good deal. It’s nearly twice what it should cost if the world actually made sense. And honestly, I hope you at least have a massive refresh rate on your monitor, because this thing is absolute overkill for 1080p. It’s a solid card, sure. The price is just ridiculous.

But what would a 2K monitor actually look like in practice?🙄>

That's a secret. 😁

Honestly, pairing a 4070Ti with a 1080p setup—especially at that price point—is practically sacrilege. You might as well aim for 1440p or maybe an ultrawide—anything else is just a waste.

Anyway—it’d be sacrilege to pair a 4070Ti at that price point with 1080p... you need at least 1440p or ultrawide.

Take this new Alienware aw2723df I picked up recently 😉

cyberpunk looks killer in HDR with RT (using FSR quality)—only issue is it sits at about 40fps on my 6800XT 😁

Without RT, I'm hitting roughly 80fps. My older CPU is dragging things down to about 60% performance though.

Given where you're at, I'd just grab an RTX 3070 from Newegg for $350. They have nine of them left; they were used for mining for about six months but still come with a warranty.
It's three times cheaper, and since it's about 40% slower, it’s actually perfect for 1080p!

He probably thinks 2160p is just 2K.

Yeah, that’s a 2K monitor—basically any screen with a 2560x1440 resolution. How do you guys not know this? There's also 4K, though I haven't really looked into whether 8K is even out yet...

Look, honestly, who cares what you call the resolution? QHD, 2K, 1440p... it doesn't matter. Everyone's really talking about 1440p anyway, even if the name technically comes from that 2000-pixel horizontal count. You could have an ultrawide at 3440x1440, but people usually just mean 2560x1440 when they bring it up.

Anyway, Bo, were you asking about a specific 4070Ti model—like, is the price-to-performance actually worth it—or are you just wondering if a 4070Ti is a solid pick for 1080p or maybe 1440p in general?

For 1440p, it's fine if you've got the cash to burn, though I wouldn't call it a great deal.
For 1080p, it's total overkill.

Regardless, Ronald Bishop58, were you asking if a specific 4070Ti model is worth the price, or if the 4070Ti in general is a solid pick for "1080p, maybe 1440p"?

For 1440p, it's fine if you've got the cash to burn, though it's not exactly a steal.
For 1080p, it's total overkill.

I used to have—and actually still have—an old Palit Gamerock 1070, and it still handles most modern games pretty decently. Then, about ten days ago, I managed to snag an Asus RX 6750 XT for $1.25, just my lucky day...

Now I'm looking back at this since its release date is this month, but obviously, I'm not looking to blow that much money—especially since I've got the 6750 XT which actually performs quite well even at 1440p. I've got a primary 1080p monitor and a secondary 1440p one, but I stick to the 1080p for reading stuff; the desktop icons and fonts are just easier on the eyes than on 1440p. I'll keep an eye on the prices for this card, though, because like I said, I'm really interested in the Palit version—I know they're solid. So far, the best price I've found is $2.50, but even that feels like too much. If the price drops sometime down the road, that's the one I'd grab.......

There’s no such thing as overkill, man!
I mean, let's be real—even you'd jump at the chance to have that kind of overkill if it were sitting right in front of you.... 🙂 😉

Right-click the desktop > Display settings and under "change the size of text, apps and other items," set it to 125%.

Here's the reality: that card at 1080p is pushing 200-300 fps in most titles. Do you even have a monitor with that many hertz? If your refresh rate is lower than what the card can pump out, you won't see those extra frames anyway. You're just making the hardware work for nothing. It actually makes sense to cap your max fps in-game to match your monitor's refresh rate. You can handle that via Vsync, Gsync, Freesync, or through the Nvidia or AMD software. If you cap an RTX 4070 Ti at 1080p, your GPU usage will likely sit way below its limit—maybe even under 50%. That's just wasted money sitting there doing nothing. Plus, your CPU might bottleneck you if it's too weak for that GPU. There are very few games where you actually need a beast like that at 1080p for decent performance, maybe cyberpunk with ray tracing enabled. And even then, you've got DLSS and FSR to bail you out.
