The Radeon R9 285 is expected to land in the $300 range. This pricing strategy implies that older Tahiti-based models will see significant price drops to clear out inventory for the incoming lineup. It makes sense—if Tahiti XT and Tonga AT The same price will mean poor sales for The inferior product of The Two, AMD needs to adjust the scales to stay competitive.

Regarding picking up a used GPU that supposedly comes with a warranty through Esys—what’s the deal with them? I’ve been browsing Craigslist for something around $400 and I'm wondering if it's actually worth the hassle... specifically looking at a 280x...

I've currently got an Intel Xeon 5410 running on a 775 motherboard—using an adapter, of course—paired with 4 GB of DDR2 RAM. Given that setup, I'm looking for the absolute best bang-for-your-buck graphics card out there right now. Honestly, I don't care if they're brand new or used; since my current rig is already a collection of older parts, I'm perfectly fine with second-hand gear as long as it performs.

So, I'm really looking for the best bang for my buck without having to mess around with overclocking—just something reliable out of the box. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know! The main thing is that it absolutely has to support DX11.

Realistically, your performance is going to fluctuate wildly depending on the specific game, whether it’s single-player or multiplayer, your monitor's resolution, and the graphical settings you choose...
Something like a slightly weaker 260X or a GTX 750 (around $75) would work fine for you.

Hey everyone.

I'm looking for a decent graphics card since I'm currently stuck using just my integrated processor graphics:
processor: AMD A8-3850 2.9
motherboard: Asrock A75M-HVS
power supply: Xilence 450w

Planning to order from an online retailer based in any major US city.
My budget is up to $167 max!

Thanks in advance!

If you absolutely have to go with something new, then this:

If you don't have those $33 yet, I'd say just save your money. Anything cheaper is honestly much worse; you just end up getting way less for what you spend.

I'm looking for a dedicated graphics card since I'm currently stuck using just the integrated graphics on my CPU:
CPU: AMD A8-3850 2.9
Motherboard: Asrock A75M-HVS
PSU: Xilence 450w

I'll buy from any online retailer based here in the US.

If you insist on buying something brand new and $167 that's your absolute limit—don't bother. You're better off saving up...

Well, of course there's always going to be those extra $33... but let's say, would a card like that actually guarantee I could play the latest PES or maybe something like The Sims 4 in peace for another 2 or 3 years? I assume those aren't too demanding, right?

Hey there!

I’m getting ready to pull the trigger on a new GPU soon. I was originally eyeing the Sapphire r9 280 x vapor-x, but then I saw the Gigabyte GV-R928XOC-3GD Rev 1.0 listed at $2,100 on Futura IT, so I kind of scrapped the Sapphire idea. Now I’m wondering—is this card actually worth that kind of cash? I noticed there's also a version labeled Rev 2.0 that costs even more, so I’m trying to figure out if grabbing the Rev 1.0 is a smart move or just throwing money away. I’m sure it’s a beast of a card, but I’m honestly pretty paranoid about temps, so I could really use some advice. Thanks!

You've got a dedicated thread for graphics cards, but yeah, this GPU is top-tier when it comes to temps and noise levels. I guess the real question is whether you have a decent enough processor and power supply to back it up, and if it'll actually fit inside your case.

The Windforce setup is solid—it really just comes down to what kind of case you're rocking and if it actually fits, plus whether you've got decent airflow in there. It’s about 29cm, so it's not exactly tiny, and I'd definitely suggest manually setting a more aggressive fan profile—especially if you're planning on overclocking, since it helps drop those temps quite a bit during full load.

Anyway, which CPU and PSU were you thinking of pairing this with exactly?

No worries at all 👍 12.5 inches is about 31.8 centimeters, so that graphics card should fit into your case without any issues—plus, you've got a solid power supply, so there won't be any trouble there either. I am just a little surprised, though... why go with a K-series processor if you aren't using an overclocking-capable motherboard? 🤔

Yeah, I totally screwed up a bit when I was messing with the motherboard, but hey, it is what it is.

I was actually hunting for a GTX 770 Lightning, but man, they are impossible to find anywhere right now. 😢 So, is the MSI GTX 760 Hawk a decent backup?
