So you're telling me I shouldn't even bother with this used junk and just grab a Radeon RX 560 instead?
There are tons of $333 options out there for that card, though you can probably haggle a bit, but man, there are so many different versions of the Radeon RX 560 and the prices jump around by like 20-$10 bucks. Is it actually worth getting this one from $346 with the 2GB ( or maybe this one ( or am I just overthinking this whole thing and should just pick the cheapest 1GB model ( I really don't want to screw myself over because the price gap isn't huge, and once I drop the cash, there's no turning back.

Since you're looking at this as a long-term thing, I guess you might as well grab the mid-range one with 2GB just to be safe.

What resolution are you running at?

If you’re on Full HD or using a dual-monitor setup, you might want to grab the 2GB version instead. $20 It's probably worth the extra money, maybe around $950...

So I'm looking at Protis and apparently there's a difference between the 1GB Radeon RX 560 and the 2GB version besides just $4.75... even though they're from the same manufacturer. Is that actually possible?

Does nobody have any idea?

Well, if that's what it says, then I guess it's 😛

I’m pretty sure the sales director for Protis is probably lurking in this thread—so don't hold your breath waiting for an actual answer. 😛

Heh

Well, I guess I should just say I finally pulled the trigger on an r7 260 x. I didn't exactly save enough for a decent steak dinner, but I added $4.75 😬 and grabbed this 2GB version instead.

I'm looking to pick up a new graphics card.
My current setup is struggling big time with Full HD video on my 24" monitor, and even basic stuff like JavaFX SceneBuilder 2.0 feels sluggish.

Here’s what I'm running right now:
AMD Athlon II X4 640 Processor, 4GB Kingston RAM
Enermax EG301AX-VE, 300W (ATX) power supply
Biostar MCP6P M2+ Ver. 6.x motherboard
Nvidia Geforce 210 512mb
Running a dual monitor setup (LCD and VGA)

Do I need to swap out the power supply too, or can I just slap in a better GPU and call it a day?
Looking for the cheapest way to get this working. 😁

Chicony Active 400 w ATX pas
Sapphire Radeon HD7770 GHz edition 1G GDDR5 128-bit PCI-E 1000MHz / 1125MHz HDMI / DVI-I / DP

Total: $919.78 + $13 shipping from Best Buy...

I’d probably swap out that power supply too. 😬

Though, looking at some old mini-reviews, I guess this was a huge hit about ten years ago. xD

Are you actually planning on gaming? If not, maybe you could just grab a cheaper graphics card.

Nah, I don't see myself gaming.

You probably don't need to swap out the power supply; this thing only pulls about 40W under load, I guess.

I need to pick up a new graphics card.

Here is my current build:

As long as it doesn't break the bank...
I just need it to run some games here and there...

So, what kind of budget are we looking at here? If you really want to see a decent performance boost, you should probably aim for an R9 270x—it’s going for about $500. Does that sound a bit steep to you, or is it within range? Also, what kind of power supply are you running with right now?

Should I grab the Sapphire Radeon HD7770 GHz edition for $133 without any warranty, or just go with the GTX 650 that still has a year left on its warranty for $167?

I'd probably just go with the GTX 650

That’s exactly what I was thinking too... It feels a bit more powerful, doesn't it? Plus, from everything I've been reading, WOT seems to lean toward Nvidia, and honestly, that's my main priority right now.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 1GB

The only way this makes sense is if you're looking at the used market—though honestly, a GTX 650 or an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti would actually be a step down from your current card. You might get maybe $70 for your old one if you're lucky, but even then, the upgrade isn't exactly life-changing.

You’d probably see much better results by just picking up a new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti
Or perhaps find a decent used NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
Though, based on how you described it, you almost made that GTX sound like a total steal.

I mean, I wouldn't really drop $200 on an old 6850, especially when you can snag an NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 for around $233

Yeah, I’m on the same page... I used to see those things popping up all over $167, but honestly, if I found one now, I’d have to sleep on it pretty hard. Right now I’m running a 4890, but I might be able to offload it soon. I've been browsing eBay to see what's actually worth my time and money, and these two are really the only options standing out. Do you think grabbing an NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 that’s only a year old for $700—maybe even $600 if I'm lucky—would actually be a solid move?
