The movie explores Princess Diana's romantic connection—though not with Prince Charles or Mohamed Al-Fayed, but rather with Hasnat Khan. She met this cardiac surgeon back in 1995 during a hospital visit, leading to a relationship that spanned about two years. (films.net)

I noticed there isn't a dedicated thread for this movie yet...

Has anyone seen it? What were your thoughts?

I caught it this evening, and honestly, it felt like a somewhat superficial, overly sentimental TV movie.
I didn't find Naomi Watts to be the most convincing choice to portray the Princess.

The most amusing part for me was trying to spot where certain scenes were filmed in the States—like seeing a Coca-Cola fridge while they were supposed to be in Italy, Jane...

So, I watched it yesterday and, unlike a ton of other people out there, I actually bought into it.
Their love story is just gorgeous and heartbreaking, and honestly, Naomi Watts is such a phenomenal actress—she’s got that raw talent and emotion needed to pull off a role like this. Maybe she doesn't look exactly like her physically, but man, she completely transformed herself. It was definitely a better choice than the original idea of casting someone who looks more like her but lacks the soul, like Jessica Chastain.

The movie isn't some sappy, mediocre, or pointless flick to me. It actually touched me—I was almost in tears, and I really liked it. I did a little digging online and found out the story was sourced from Diana's close friends and people close to Khan's family. So, I think it feels pretty authentic. Even Khan himself admitted that Diana broke things off with him back in July 1997. Basically, Fayed was just a smokescreen.

As for the setting, in the film, she played parts representing Canada, Australia, and Italy.

I actually watched it too... I’d read some of those British reviews beforehand, but honestly,
the movie was a pleasant surprise and really moved me. I was also curious about where they filmed everything in the States... That hotel terrace overlooking the Gulf of Mexico looked absolutely stunning at night 🙂 and apparently, they shot parts of it in Washington, D.C., and Santa Barbara...
And that scene where Diana touches the old man playing the blind man? That's actually our actor Duško Valentić, and Nera Stipičević is right there next to him—I think that was filmed in Washington, D.C...

In my opinion, Naomi Watts gave a solid performance, though I personally feel like no actress could ever truly capture her perfectly. Diana had this very specific, positive energy, this warmth in her eyes and such grace... But I am glad they showed us that side of her life we didn't know much about, as well as the parts we did—specifically how unhappy she was and how hard she struggled with the paparazzi who hunted her at every single turn.....

It's just such a beautiful, heartbreaking love story...😢

The whole thing was so touching; I actually found myself tearing up by the end...

Also, Hasnat—the surgeon himself—gave an interview recently. He mentioned that while the film crew spoke with his friends and family, most of the information and events depicted in the movie are inaccurate. He doesn't deny that they were in love, but the way their romance is portrayed on screen is a distorted version of the actual relationship he had with Diana.

When they were together, they didn't act like a princess and a doctor; they were just
just Diana and Hasnat. Plus, the locations they show aren't even the real places where they used to hang out...

But regardless, I think the movie is definitely worth watching at some point......

I’m usually not one for stories that end in tragedy, but since I fell for Naomi Watts after seeing 😍 the movie "Circle," this was a must-watch for me. No regrets. It was a beautiful film. I’ll admit, I would have preferred a different ending, but I guess that’s what happens when you're watching a true story. Naomi is stunning, as always 😍 though I might not have even recognized her if I didn't already know it was her 😳

The movie was just okay for me. Honestly, the beginning felt way too dragged out, while the ending felt rushed. Suddenly everything cuts off and we're left wondering about Dodi. Like, how? Why? Where? It’s all just left hanging. I wasn't old enough to actually know her story when she passed away, even though I've heard the legends, so I didn't feel a deep connection. I wasn't exactly blown away.
It had a sad ending and all, but they didn't even show how she died, which is what I was actually looking for. Kind of a boring flick if you ask me.

Honestly, it was kind of a mess for me. A pretty weak start, then it picked up a tiny bit, but nothing special. Naomi didn't even bother me that much—I mean, she’s probably a little old for the role, but she actually surprised me. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be, I'll give them that. The ending felt super rushed, too; they just skipped over stuff, especially that whole thing with Dodi. 🤷 Personally, I'd say a 4 or 5 out of 10. Even with all my gripes, it was still better than I expected. Still nowhere near a masterpiece, though. Way off.

Definitely one of the more forgettable films. Given how much material exists regarding Princess Diana’s life, they chose to focus on some doctor nobody has ever heard of—mostly because we all assumed Dodi Fayed was the main story. I mean, 🙄 what happened to her relationship with her kids or the Royal Family after the split from Prince Charles? Or even her run-ins with the paparazzi? They flashed those scenes for five seconds, which was honestly the only decent part of the movie.
Why is Dodi being treated like a mere distraction now? Why? ☕ I don't know; looking at the actual photos from that time, there seemed to be genuine chemistry there.
As for the chemistry between Watts and this actor, they didn't have a trace of it. They even portrayed Princess Diana as some teenager rising from a bed of roses 🤦—and her children? What children? 🤦
I'm done...
