Dead Man Down (2013)

It’s an action thriller, really, centered around this love story set deep within the criminal underworld of New York City.



So, Victor is basically the right-hand man to a mob boss named Alphonse. Things are getting messy for the boss—he's dealing with threatening letters and gang members being picked off one by one. Then there's Darcy, a friend of Victor who also works for Alphonse; he gets totally obsessed with hunting down the killer just to suck up to the boss and climb the ranks. Right in the middle of all this chaos, Victor crosses paths with Beatrice, this mysterious Frenchwoman living with her mother, Valentina, in the building right across from his.

As Victor finds himself drawn to Beatrice, he starts realizing she isn't exactly who she claims to be. Turns out, she's actually a victim looking for vengeance, and she needs Victor to pull it off. But then she discovers that Victor is also nursing his own vendetta over the loss of his wife and daughter. Once these two broken people team up, fueled by pure revenge, their chemistry kicks in and leads them toward a pretty dark plan.
