Best video cutting software?

A quick question about trimming video files. I used to rely on Windows Movie Maker and QuickTime Player, but now I'm stuck—either I'm doing something wrong, or it's impossible to cut out just one specific section.
My goal is to take a single video, slice it into four or five different segments, and then stitch them all back together into one continuous clip. Is there a program that handles this entire process automatically, or am I forced to cut each piece individually and then find another program to merge them?

Depending on whatever video format you happen to be working with, I suppose you might be able to manage that using VLC Media Player.

If you're looking for the absolute best tool for this kind of thing, I’d definitely suggest Adobe Premiere Pro because it can handle the job without needing any annoying re-encoding!

I rely on HandBrake for this specific purpose. You split it into 100 segments, pass them back through to the original format, and you're done. Fast and reliable...

You asked where to download it, so I provided those links. No, I don't use it; I have never used it. I have done such things quite rarely, though when I did, I tended to work with VLC Media Player.

As soon as I finished installing it, an icon for CCleaner popped up; do I actually need that too, or can I skip it? What is that even supposed to do for me?

Sure, let’s put it that way. You download a 15-minute video from YouTube, but you only want one specific clip—say, a single jump into a pool from a "funny fails" compilation.

I'm downloading AnyVideo right now.
I installed that software and now this CCleaner icon is popping up. Do I actually need it, or can I just ignore it? What is the point of it anyway?

CCleaner serves a purpose, sure, but it has absolutely nothing to do with the AnyVideo converter.
When you install software—especially free stuff—stop clicking "Express Install." It’s a trap. Always choose "Custom Installation" instead. During the process, uncheck every single box and permission for extra junk like toolbars, random banners, or secondary programs. If it isn't strictly necessary for the specific software you're actually installing, get rid of it.
