northernpilot2 said:Angela Edwards66, when you first started calling Hurem "Huremkuretina," it isn't true that you were being threatened or intimidated by the admin, just as wiredwolf442 suggested in that first post.
I did warn you that such a nickname was inappropriate, though now I recall that didn't happen on the PDF file section but over in Offtopic, where the reports against you were actually coming from... but that’s probably beside the point.

Anyway, ambermason16 mentioned she had some thoughts regarding those nicknames, and I find myself agreeing with her, so I don't really have much else to add to that...

wiredwolf442 phrased things poorly. It was implied that certain behavior wouldn't be permitted or tolerated, among other things, but I won't list them all since I honestly don't have the patience for it today, and it seems there's no point in trying...

It truly wasn't my intention to sink to anyone else's level, especially those who resort to using derogatory names for characters, but I've realized that sometimes there's simply no other way to get through to people, so I thought I'd try this approach just to see how it would play out. I told you, Blood dim, that I understand exactly how moderation works because I handle similar responsibilities myself, enforcing the rules and maintaining the boundaries established here on the forum. But I have to say, I haven't seen anything quite like this before. Please don't take this personally, but I am genuinely taken aback. My goal wasn't to insult the actress or her performance—everyone has their own opinion on that—but I used that specific name solely to see what would happen to those of us who fight fire with fire against people who constantly push boundaries without consequence. And, predictably, I got the exact response I expected. These same people were calling Abraham a slattern, and referring to Mahidevran as Mahnitalan (implying she's crazy), yet you told me that what I wrote about Hurem was uncivilized. Well, it was, and I stand by that, but I wonder if it's any more polite to call another Sultan Mahnitalan... I really can't decide which is worse...

Warnings are usually marked in colored text, so you guys are really nitpicking over one of my posts that wasn't even intended as a warning, specifically this post.

Look, I’m saying this in good faith, definitely not as some strict official reprimand.

I don't see anything wrong with the nickname Mahinalan, considering all her actions are basically just mahinalan anyway.
Ibro, stop being such a jerk, I honestly think it's just playing off the plot since Abraham actually does have a mistress.
Though personally, I'd probably steer clear of nicknames altogether, just so we don't end up constantly debating what crosses the line of good taste, you know?

Obviously, people would react if something truly crossed the line of decent taste, because everything has its limits, I guess.

I was the one who wrote the colored warnings in my capacity as an Offtopic moderator.

But hey, ambermason16 mentioned those nicknames above, so let's all just stick to that so we don't turn this into some massive, drawn-out ordeal. 🙂

Regarding insults toward characters: let's get this straight once and for all: it doesn't violate the forum rules. Hurem is a fictional character. If someone wants to call her hurkurvetina, that says more about their own upbringing than anything else, but it shouldn't result in a ban, nor should a fictional character need defenders who spend ten posts complaining about what's allowed and reporting "insults." Insults apply to the users here on the forum. Factions are fine and totally normal, but if they exist, the goal should be healthy debate over why their specific hero or heroine is right or a positive figure—using examples from the show's plot as arguments—rather than just bickering with members of an opposing faction about stuff like "how could you possibly support Mahidevran."

Blood dim, we were actually referring to this specific message.

" If you’re going to insist on throwing adjectives, nouns, and all sorts of other labels at the actors, please try to keep things at a decent level of civility. "

That was your exact sentiment when you posted that in the Off topic thread... I can't help but wonder why you didn't say the same thing in the Suleiman the Magnificent thread, and please excuse me for copying your message like this...

Angela Edwards66, look, I already said what I had to say in my previous post.
The notifications for your reply popped up in the Off topic section, which is why I responded over there to what you just copied and pasted here.
As for that whole thing with the PDF file, there wasn't some big warning in bright colors or anything; I was just kind of jumping off your post about nicknames, probably with good intentions if you actually bother to read the tone, so it definitely wasn't me trying to "threaten people with a ban" or whatever.

And honestly, please, there’s really no need to be all formal with me—just talk to me normally. 🙂

There was an absolute mountain of rage thrown around regarding Suleiman the Magnificent, yet nobody stepped up to address it. We finally sorted out the nicknames—mostly just to see how things play out—but what about the rest of the complaints? There is no way in hell that those nicknames were the biggest issue here.

Rachel Davis, what other complaints are we talking about here?

Look, you’ve gotta give me some actual links to whatever it is you're complaining about. I mean, just posting vague stuff like this without any specifics is pretty much pointless, right? It doesn't really get anything done if we don't know exactly what's going on.

Look, just give us specific links to what you're actually complaining about. Writing vague, general gripes doesn't accomplish anything—it’s useless and nothing gets resolved that way.

If you've been paying any attention to what we've been saying, you already know exactly where we stand—everyone basically said the same thing regarding what's bothering us. There is so much going on in that thread that it's impossible to single out one specific thing, since new issues pop up every single day. Besides, I don't think it's my job to dig through the entire thread and summarize everything when we've already laid it all out there. It's honestly a shame; the thread started off so well.

The notifications for the reports came through on the Offtopic board, which is why I responded over there to what you just copied here...
As for the PDF file, there wasn't any warning highlighted in colored text; I was just adding to your thread about nicknames, trying to be helpful as you can tell from my tone, definitely not trying to "threaten people with bans" or anything like that...

And please, no need to be so formal with me, you can just call me by my name... 🙂

I’m glad we’re on a first-name basis now, though I honestly don't know how old you are, and I generally try to be polite to everyone, using more formal titles for older people I haven't met, and especially for the moderators, out of respect...

I agree, we messed up by not reporting it, but if I recall correctly, I did report a few posts myself, mostly just to keep things moving along...

Anyway, if you don't mind, I wanted to ask you something else 😁...

I noticed you weren't active in the Suleiman thread right from the start, but joined a bit later once you saw all those nicknames and adjectives being thrown around at the characters, and you didn't say anything, hmm, am I right about that??

If you're talking about being petty and messing around with that PDF file, then no, I didn't react—honestly, I don't think any of the moderators even acknowledged it.
Regarding Huremkuretina , I did chime in over in the Offtopic section because of the report, and like I said there, I just felt like they weren't being classy at all and were being totally unnecessary, which is pretty much what you just pointed out yourself.

But look, let's just wrap up this whole debate about those nicknames. These characters are fictional, so you can't really offend them with some labels, which means nobody's getting banned for it; at the end of the day, it's just up to the users and how they choose to behave. 🙂

I’m really hoping things don't spiral like that again, at least not on my end, because unlike some people here, I actually make an effort to show everyone a bit of respect...

As for the characters, I honestly don't get why there's so much fighting and bickering over them, when we aren't even allowed to write a single word about Hurem or anyone else without causing a scene. Personally, if a character messes up—whether it’s Abraham, Mahidevran, or whoever—I’ll be the first to point it out. I don't have any favorites; I see everyone as a mix of good and bad. For instance, after so many people were claiming last night that Hurem "helped" Valida pass away, the backlash was immediate. I just pointed out that both she and Abraham played a part in it, and of course, everyone is entitled to their own take...

Yesterday, after I mentioned that everything regarding Abraham's arc felt crystal clear, I got a message back from Riviera—not even about the characters, but about me personally—mentioning how someone else had already been flagged. It feels like you guys just don't get it. We aren't here to constantly report users just to watch them get banned; I could have reported several people by now, but I haven't, mostly because I'm wary of getting banned myself. I always held onto this hope that we could just hang out, talk about the characters and the show, and joke around without being provocative. Our goal isn't to get people kicked out... we just want to enjoy the discussion together, without insulting the characters or each other...

Angela Edwards66 said:I mean, I always kind of hoped we could just hang out, talk about the characters, chat about the show, and just have a good laugh without everyone constantly picking fights. Our goal shouldn't be about getting someone banned or whatever; it should be about actually enjoying the conversation together, staying on topic, and making sure nobody—whether it's a character or a fellow user—gets insulted.

Honestly, that’s what every single person on a forum should be aiming for.
But look, you can see for yourself how things go down sometimes—one group starts tearing each other apart, and then when the mods finally step in to fix it, they're the ones who end up looking mean and twisted for supposedly shutting down the discussion or whatever.

The moderators don't have any vendettas against anyone, despite how it might look from the outside, and none of them actually hate people; creating that kind of narrative is just totally wrong.

I guess what happens is that a regular user participating in a thread doesn't really see half the stuff the moderators have to scrub away, and most of those deleted posts are nothing but pure trolling, insults, and all that nonsense.
Every moderator spends hours cleaning up threads just to stop arguments and constant bickering from spiraling out of control, though obviously, it’s impossible to catch everything.

Rachel Davis said:It honestly bugs me how Angela Edwards66 gets singled out. No matter what she posts, if the rest of the group doesn't like it, the mockery and provocation start immediately. It’s like people are actually rooting for more strikes, penalties, or bans just so they can say they achieved their goal.

Does this even make sense to me?
Is asking for an actual argument or a concrete example to back up a claim really considered an "attack"?
If she writes a hundred times about how Ibrica does great things, I’m going to ask her for one single example of those deeds a hundred times.
And of course, I’ll never get an answer. Also, I have no idea why you feel personally obligated to jump in and answer questions directed at her.

Rachel Davis said:@wiredwolf442/">@@wiredwolf442 look, even if one or two of his posts were offensive, I still support him because he was one of the rare ones trying to be objective. But since the whole thread isn't like that—because everyone is just trying to stir up drama and rack up points—it's no surprise he got banned.

I am actually dying laughing here.
Agreeing with something doesn't make it "objective."
I mean, clearly, I’m the most objective person on this entire board.

Speaking of @wiredwolf442/">@@wiredwolf442, I'm curious—did he actually face any sanctions for harassing and insulting people through private messages?
Rachel Davis said:I’m asking the moderators to please bring some order to this thread. Like wiredwolf442 mentioned earlier, there used to be way more comments and active posters, but now everything has just fizzled out. I assume it's because people don't feel comfortable here, and honestly, neither do I.

I totally agree that you guys have completely trashed this thread.

I feel like I'm being targeted in this discussion, so I think it would be nice if someone actually invited me to defend myself. xD

My personal nod to you all. Bye, guys.

@slytinker11/">@@slytinker11, I honestly don't get why you think my post was aimed at you—and why you decided to single me out when we all basically said the same thing? It’s also weird that you're acting like this whole thread revolves around you, jumping in just to defend yourself.
The truth is, this discussion has devolved into exactly what I hate—there’s zero actual reasoning left. It’s just people shouting my character is better because mine is mine, and as for any real debate? Forget about it. If we can't all agree on the same person, people just start throwing provocations. Honestly, why even waste the breath? I've already said everything I have to say. I just hope this thread becomes a bit more civilized in the future.

slytinker11 said:Since we’re already bringing up @wiredwolf442/">@@wiredwolf442, I was wondering if he actually got slapped with any sanctions for harassing people and being toxic in the DMs?

Yeah.
The user was penalized and banned because of all that insulting behavior.
And honestly, there's really no point in you guys settling scores right here in this thread.

As for the "issue" involving the Television moderators that caused this whole thread to pop up—that's been dealt with. Basically, wiredwolf442 is stuck with a Parcial, and we’re asking you guys to be the ones who actually follow the rules and keep this discussion "healthy," rather than just tearing it apart.
At the end of the day, it’s the users who set the tone in an open thread, and the moderators are just here to steer things back onto the right track if you drift too far off—though, obviously, even moderators aren't omnipotent.
