Adam Williams2 said:Not sure about this. Goluža clearly wanted the win; you could see it on him. He sent that little mandarin kid in, then the kid messes up once—literally immediately—and he’s out. If that's what they call "giving the youth a chance," then their coaching approach is garbage. I don't think he would've played it that way if he was actually playing the long game...

He just wanted to win, period.😬

Did you see how much Duvnjak hesitated before passing during that last Vorijev goal? We're down a man, Vori is right there on the line, and this guy just stares at him before finally making the pass. Vori takes the ball slow, turns, and scores, then looks back at the bench on the way back and shouts something. Our defense has never moved like we did during that last attack when that bald guy hit the post. And I'm not convinced Goluža called that timeout by accident either.

If you ask me, I’d much rather take an honest fifth place than a dishonest first.

Well, he hit the nail on the head. The Spaniards just didn't want to win. Not even by 0.01%. And our guys—well, they apparently just didn't want to turn this whole thing into an even bigger circus than it already was.

For the hundred-and-fortieth time, this isn't about being "honest."

I mean, should we have played our starters against Australia just to crush them by 32 points? It’s supposed to be "sportsmanship" to give everything every single second, even though that's mostly nonsense and just asks for injuries that ruin the rest of the tournament.

Nah... it's more for those who actually thought sports were designed to be non-profit entertainment in the first place..

The way you and a whole bunch of other people view today's sports—basically just looking at them through the lens of whatever lands on the bottom line of a balance sheet—really tends to kill off that original sense of "fun," and instead leaves about 90% of the folks we mentioned at the start of this sentence feeling nothing but pure frustration. ☕

What exactly would be unfair about bringing on a couple of guys like Miller or Smith in the second half after we took the lead? Or maybe just giving Alillović a little breather? What's so wrong with actually playing the players you brought along to the World Cup? 😕 It's not like they were going to field a bunch of middle schoolers from some rural town instead...

I mean, why did Vori seriously have to bury it in the 59th minute to take the lead? Who can actually blame him for missing? Honestly, half the players would screw up a ball like that right now against the French.

Did you see how hesitant the passer was during that last goal by generic surname? He just hesitated to give him the ball. We're playing down a man here, and while generic surname is right there at the line, this guy just stares at him before finally making the pass. Generic surname takes the ball so slowly, turns around, and slams it home. On his way back, he looks toward the bench and shouts something. Our defense has never moved quite like they did during that last attack when that bald guy hit the post. And I’m starting to think it wasn't an accident when generic surname called for a timeout.

He could have missed if he actually wanted to miss.

And now, Vori is throwing the whole thing under the bus to save Omeyer!

I might just head down to the sportsbook and put a heavy bet on the Frenchmen recording over 20 saves against Omeyer.

Between the likes of Goluza and Gobac, 🙂

this kind of behavior will cost us dearly when we chase medals; the French team is practically salivating at the prospect of facing us. We’ll be playing a man down on offense as usual, while Omeyer plays the game of his life just to get back home safely.

At least we won't have to wait much longer to hear the unvarnished truth from Goluza regarding the "Balic situation."☕

It actually used to be regulated back in the day—you had the first round of groups, then a second round where points carried over, and the top two teams just went straight into the semifinals. There wasn't all this match-fixing nonsense back then.

Nicole Patel70 said:I have to admit, this guy generic surname is starting to surprise me more and more
I was actually pretty harsh on him during the 2012 Summer Olympics—mostly because I thought he lacked the nerve to take the big shots—but man, he’s got the shooting range and the height to be whoever he wants to be if he just steps up

Maybe he’ll finally find some confidence 🤷
He really needs to be seen when there isn't all this trash talk coming from the other side

generic surname was already looking solid back when they played in Mexico. Sure, he’s been working on his shot, but what really caught my eye was how he held it together against the Frenchmen in Mexico—he showed he actually has the mental toughness

If I were at a sportsbook, I'd bet heavily on the French team racking up over 20 saves thanks to Omeyer!

Between Goluza and Gobac 🙂

Their sheer lack of integrity is going to cost us a medal! The Frenchies are practically salivating at the chance to face us; we’ll likely be playing a man down on offense as usual, while Omeyer plays the game of his life just to head home empty-handed.

At least now we'll get a taste of the "real truth" from Goluza regarding that whole "Balic situation." ☕

The only way we beat the French is by playing with actual grit. As for the truth behind that specific incident? We aren't ever going to find out, not after how that entire "situation" was swept under the rug by Gobac through some cozy little backroom deal.

Paul Jones7 said:That generic surname was already performing well back when we were playing in Mexico. Sure, he worked on his shooting, but what truly impressed me was his performance against the Frenchmen during that trip to Mexico; he proved then that he actually possesses composure.

And why, then, did he fail to play with such composure during the 2012 Summer Olympics?

If a player truly belongs at the elite level, shouldn't they perform consistently across all fronts, rather than producing a single flash of brilliance followed by total stagnation?☕

That generic surname is merely a placeholder player; the real objective was always to facilitate a sale to a club even larger than New York City (though we all know how generic surname handles his business).

silverpuma90 said:We only manage to dismantle the Frenchmen by playing that way. However, we are never going to uncover the truth behind that specific incident once the whole "situation" was swept under the rug by generic surname and everyone decided to just kiss up to him.

Even if we assume the French are our only true threat, as far as I can recall from our history, we haven't been faring particularly well against the Danes lately either—their fast-paced style of play simply doesn't suit us.

Grace Adams32 said:What would be unfair about bringing on a generic surname or a generic surname during the second half after we took the lead, or perhaps letting a generic surname get some rest instead of a generic surname? What is so unfair about actually playing the players you brought along to the World Cup? 😕 They aren't exactly fielding junior varsity players from some local high school league.

👍

Exactly, what purpose do those players even serve?! (A generic surname, a generic surname...) Are they just there to gain experience by carrying equipment or sitting on the bench 🙏 when you don't use them in a game where there isn't intense pressure or an absolute necessity to win 🤷 Not to mention, for the hundredth time, if they had played, it would have allowed a generic surname, a generic surname... and the rest of the starters to catch their breath and save their energy for the next round.
There is nothing unfair about it, because in a system like this, you aren't responsible for anyone being eliminated; rather, you preserve the freshness of the squad and give the youth a chance to gain match experience—which is supposedly why you brought them along in the first place 🙏

Adam Williams2 said:I don't know, I mean, generic surname really wanted that win—you could just see it written all over him.

You know what else was obvious? That he’s a total moron. It’s almost like Keta was the only person on the planet watching the game who didn't realize the Spaniards were just coasting through it. That clenched fist of his when we scored the winning goal... honestly, it felt like a moment of pure, unadulterated, homegrown stupidity.

To be honest, I actually hope we get knocked out in the Round of 16. If we're being led by someone that clueless, we don't even deserve to make it to the quarterfinals. Besides, I really don't feel like sitting through another absolute slaughter at the hands of the Frenchmen. I'd much rather just let the guys from Belarus beat us instead.

So, I guess the logic is that we should have rolled out the starters against Australia the whole time—just absolutely steamrolled them by 30 points—because, you know, "sportsmanship" means giving it your all at every single moment... even if that doesn't make much sense and just risks someone getting injured and messing up the rest of the tournament.

Honestly, how hard is that for some people to wrap their heads around?

Also, you know how it goes—everyone sees what they want to see. Maybe some players were slacking off or thinking about other things, but I'm pretty sure generic surname was going for the win, I guess.😁 😉

We could look at it that way, but we could also say he hesitated because those previous passes didn't work out for him. Who knows what anyone was actually thinking, maybe.🤷

Either way, we played like idiots because we wasted our starting lineup for no reason.
