Parker (2013)

Hand on my heart, I really think Gibson's performance did more than half the heavy lifting here. If we had gone with some other actor—someone a bit less charismatic—this whole thing would have ended up feeling like just another mediocre slog.

Also, while we're on the subject of all those different Porters and Parkers out there, I just have to mention the incredible color palette that Ericsson Core brought to this production... even if you forget every single plot point, that visual style is going to stick with you forever. 🙂

Glad I'm not the only one thinking this. Watched it last night and felt totally let down. Pure garbage. And that young actress... honestly, it felt like her only job was to pose in lingerie just so they could show off her backside. I guess that's how they think they sell tickets nowadays, even if she's got a face built for nothing but boxing matches... maybe she's just looking for another shot at marriage.

I honestly don't understand how nobody had the nerve to tell the director to cut at least thirty minutes off this thing, or point out that the script is absolute garbage.

I barely made it to the credits. There was really no point in even trying to enjoy it... it was just pure trash.

Moving on... if Parker didn't actually care about the money and was just driven by principle, why go through the trouble of stealing the jewels in the first place? I mean, if he had already decided to take things to the extreme and track down the big boss in Chicago, why couldn't he have just taken what he was owed directly from him?

And then there's this whole gang of thieves—at the beginning, they wanted to kill Parker because he refused to chip in his own cash for the next heist... and looking back now, sure, I get it, they need capital for everything... but they ended up blowing most of that loot on buying a House in Florida. Why would they do that? Wouldn't renting a place be a much more practical option?

I noticed that same thing with the license plates in Jack Reacher, so maybe there's some law in certain states that allows it. As for the House, they bought it (or at least that was their excuse in the movie) because when a crime like that happens, the entire area gets locked down, and rental properties are usually the first thing the cops go after.
