So, there’s already a similar thread floating around, so I’m not sure if this one is actually going to take off.

Not sure if I’m reading the room right here, but am I sensing that we're talking about amateur edits? You know, the kind where someone just rips a video and dumps it on YouTube or some random channel? If that’s the case, the absolute GOAT is definitely Igor Presnyakov. 🙏

I don't know if I'm reading this right, but am I actually understanding this correctly—are these covers being done by total amateurs? Like, just some random crew who downloads a track and tosses it onto Jubito or some random indie channel? Alright, let’s just keep this thread separate for now—it would actually be quite nice to see some high-quality covers that aren't necessarily professional grade. You can find all sorts of things on Jubito, so please, feel free to dump them here. 🙂

I posted yesterday about covers versus originals on playlists, but I just had to bring it up here too because she’s been stuck in my head all morning... St. Vincent doing a cover of Nica. There’s a studio version out there, but this live session just has so much more soul to it. (Which is totally against my usual taste, honestly—I usually pick the studio versions over live takes any day) .

An incredible rendition of The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore by the Walker Brothers, performed by Bareta (original). It gives you chills. A solid American cover of sjaj u tama / sunce. Check out the comments on YouTube; even Bare actually showed up.

I assume you realize this isn't an ACTUAL performance by Dave Brubaker?

"A couple of people have asked how I made this video so here we go -
I took a clip from a 1964 live version of Take Five (View on youtube...) and made the drum loop by chopping up the intro and turning it from 5/4 into the 3/4 - 4/4 groove that Golden Brown has. The upright bass sound is sequenced from Logic, and the piano part was played in using one of the piano sounds from a Nord Electro 5D. Then I played the sax part over the top (I play a King Zephyr alto and for this I used a hard Rubber Yanigasawa mouthpiece rather than my usual bright Guardala).
The video was then edited using the clip I'd taken the drum loop from."
