For quite some time now, this particular moderator has been scrubbing posts from users who are being offensive toward others without actually issuing any sanctions. It feels like she’s playing favorites and protecting certain members for reasons known only to her. Just look at this example from today that went unpunished—I'm sharing it here as a warning to everyone else, because if any other moderators had seen this, they would have handed out penalties immediately. As for my own situation, I am more than happy to submit my own post history for review so you can see just how benign my comments are compared to the ones that were left untouched while I was strictly penalized by this protected user. This sentiment has been voiced around here for a while, but of course, Brenda Cook4 remains untouchable, even today. Brenda Cook4 deleted the post, but fortunately, I managed to capture a screenshot.

The topic is under the Religion section
titled: "Does a soul exist" dated 10/28/2012, and the deleted content was post number 196.

Here is what it looked like.

I honestly can't wrap my head around how you can be so certain that the post hasn't been botted.

On the "Does a Soul Exist" thread, about 20 posts in a row were just wiped out because the conversation veered off course into endless bickering and random chatter. Because of that, I had to post a request asking everyone to please stick to the actual topic at hand.

Just to set the record straight: any claims about selective deleting or playing favorites with certain members are completely unfounded.

Nicholas King said:I don't quite follow how you can be so sure the post wasn't censored.

If you want me to interpret that as a question, please use a question mark next time.

It’s obvious I know what we’re seeing here, and she even stated herself that it wasn't deleted—which isn't hard to figure out, considering she's been running things for a while now and routinely wipes away insults without handing out any actual penalties.
And honestly, how is a person supposed to feel when they watch someone get banned over two little ironic jokes made in good spirits?
The way this moderation team operates just makes my stomach turn.
I’m certain there were at least twenty similar posts from this particular user that went completely unpunished, most likely because that Brenda Cook4 was acting as a moderator at the time.

Regardless, I intend to keep exposing the embarrassment this whole group has become, though I'll leave it up to you all how you choose to react. It truly saddens me that I spent so much effort cleaning up the mess left by those previous "gems" of a moderation team; it would be wonderful to finally see the fruits of that labor today...

From what I can see, you really went overboard there and managed to walk away without a single penalty—so I honestly don't see any ground for you to call out Brenda Cook4 for calling out other users on different forums.

BTW, Nicholas King’s question is actually a fair one. How can you tell which of those deleted posts resulted in a strike and which ones didn't?

By the way, Nicholas King’s question hits the nail on the head. How exactly are you able to tell which deleted posts resulted in a strike and which ones didn't?

Where specifically did I go too far without getting flagged?
I was docked 35 points just because I mentioned flatulence—since she had previously introduced "farting" as a general concept—so I guess I just have a habit of telling my own family not to pass gas so they don't get offended, yet she got upset and is now targeting me for being sensitive about it.

Look, you guys can keep coming after me, but what are we actually going to do about the issue I reported?

Is there anyone in a higher authority above you moderators who can weigh in? It seems like there isn't any consistency in your criteria, or is this whole thing just a formality where people vent their frustrations only for everything to carry on exactly as it was before?

She docked me 35 points just because I brought up farting—since she introduced it earlier as some universal concept or whatever. I have this habit of telling my family not to pass gas so they don't get annoyed, so she got offended and is now calling me out for being able to get mad at something like that.

Look, forget about me for a second, but what are we actually doing about the report I filed?

Is there anyone higher up than you moderators who can actually make a call here? Because you guys clearly aren't on the same page with the rules, or is this whole thing just a formality to let people vent before everything goes back to business as usual?

There is someone authoritative. Me, for instance.

What’s absolutely certain is that none of the moderators in the religion section take a single person posting there seriously. You can be 100% sure of that. Personally, when I see who posts there and how they act, I honestly don't know what kind of headspace I'd have to be in to take any of them seriously.

You got those 35 points because you earned them based on the topic and the specific rules of that thread. It’s an American legal discussion sub-forum, which is a niche topic with very clearly defined communication standards.

As a mod, all I can tell you is we've already warned you to rethink how you talk in the religion section, otherwise we’ll have to start handing out bans. I personally have deleted a ton of your posts without giving you a formal strike, even though some of them definitely broke the forum's core guidelines.

The strike stays.

To be perfectly fair, let's say that I am speaking from my own perspective here.

One thing that is absolutely certain is that none of the moderators over in the Religion section are holding the line for any of the users posting there. You can take that to the bank. Personally, when I look at who is actually contributing to those discussions and observe the manner in which they carry themselves, I honestly find myself wondering what kind of mental state one would have to be in to feel compelled to defend anyone in that group.

You’ve earned those 35 points fair and square. They were awarded because you stayed right on track with the topic and followed the guidelines to a T. Since we are discussing specific community standards, it’s important to remember that the communication style there is clearly defined, and you handled it perfectly.

As a moderator, what I can tell you is that we have already issued several warnings regarding your communication style on the Religion forum; if this behavior continues, we will be forced to move toward a partial ban. On a personal note, I have gone out of my way to delete numerous posts of yours without officially flagging them for rule violations, even though some of those entries certainly warranted at least a formal strike under our community guidelines.

The cardboard is all yours.

Don't mind me and my little grievances; I’m certainly not looking for any special favors for myself here. Just keep things moving along as you always have, and I have no doubt you will—especially since my previous posts have already managed to get the moderator breathing down my neck! But really, what are we going to do about all this selective deleting? There are much worse comments being made on this board, and I have specific, proven examples ready to go if anyone actually cares to see them.

Are you trying to avoid that?

I really must ask everyone to stop trying to shift the focus onto me; this whole ordeal was initiated by Gregory Turner71, and I’ve already clarified that my own situation isn't even in the same league as what we are discussing here. I certainly wasn't looking for any special treatment or asking for anything for myself. While I am more than willing to take full responsibility if others choose to judge me, it is quite clear—as I have already demonstrated—that such judgments simply don't apply in this instance.

Anyway, forget about me for a second—what’s actually going to happen with the report I filed?

Seek God and humble yourself; you aren't exactly following the other 612 commandments either.

Maybe try actually reading the Bible once in a while—you might find you're less of an obvious troll pretending to be a believer next time. It truly is a miracle how the mods haven't banned you yet, considering you've been trolling these threads for days on end.

Personally, I'm planning to report you to ADMIN..

Insulting other users would easily earn you a penalty for this. You’ve got plenty of points banked to cover a three-day suspension if you tried.

And you still haven't answered my question: how exactly do you know who gets penalized and who doesn't?

And you still haven't answered my question: how on earth can you tell who's playing ball over there and who isn't?

Didn't you catch the news? They took Pop's car!
They seized his vehicle because he wasn't doing his job properly for Bozanic.

There's your answer.
Now, my question remains: are you going to penalize this oversight that I have so meticulously documented?

Just give me a simple YES or NO.

hiddenbear3, greetings,
just ignore Pastor Jim; you don't owe him anything
(I flagged your post; I probably would have done the same regardless of who wrote it because principles are principles, but I'm hoping the ADMINs might look the other way this time).

If I may offer some advice... man, I truly mean this, and I hope you take it the right way:

Maybe take a few days off and come back to the forum later so we can chat again; it’s actually a nice place to hang out.
After a little break, you'll realize how much we all miss you, and I think your frustration will fade.

Even I lose my cool sometimes, but then I quickly remember: Nobody would run this forum better than Brenda Cook4 and Gregory Turner71.
If anyone else were in charge, this whole place would fall apart in a heartbeat, believe me.

You can't please everyone in this world, and there will always be people complaining. Moderators have to walk a fine line here (having been a mod myself, I know that struggle well).
Real life understands why things had to be written that way, just as moderators know when it's appropriate to issue a warning or not.

I consider you a big-hearted person, and I'm confident you'll get through this. Best regards, 🙂

And you still haven't answered me: how can you possibly know who is actually participating there and who isn't?

I assume more objective (or reliable) mods, like Uncle Sam for instance, would likely issue a strike for trolling, rather than insults.😁

(Plus, if I recall correctly, on the religion board they always emphasized that calling someone a troll during a debate is unnecessary trolling itself—it's not the same thing)

So much for your objectivity...

So much for your objectivity...

After roughly 8-9 years of moderating the same subforum, wouldn't you say-- no, not 9 days or 3 months, because then any potential error in judgment might just be a coincidence or one off.
