I can already see where this is going wrong. That AMD FX chip is a total waste of money—it’s incredibly inefficient when you look at the power draw versus what you actually get in performance. If you're set on going with AMD (which it sounds like you are), just grab an Athlon 740/750 k. Or, if you actually need some real muscle, look into the newer AMD FX models like the 8320.

Look, I'll say it again: give us a budget, list the components you're eyeing, and tell us what you're actually planning to do with this rig. Otherwise, you're just guessing. No offense intended, but it feels like you're a bit out of your depth here.

I am looking to put together a PC that will allow me to enjoy my favorite games smoothly for at least another two or three years, provided that I can keep the total cost under $1233
.

But he actually linked the FX 6300, right? 😬
Hard to beat that CPU for under a hundred bucks... 🙂

It’s all about the value proposition, especially since spending a fortune on a GPU when there isn't even one in the build makes zero sense.

You're right, though—I definitely overshot it. The CPU is solid, just overkill for what he actually needs.

Looking for some GPU recommendations for around $167. I need something that can actually handle modern games. Right now, I'm running an Nvidia 7600, which I guess was a top-tier card back in the day 😁, but it’s definitely time for an upgrade. My current rig isn't exactly a powerhouse—just a 2.8 GHz dual-core with 4GB of RAM. This setup is pretty much just a stopgap solution for now, but I need something functional. Thanks.

Is there anything cheaper out there that isn't complete junk? 😁

Honestly, with that kind of budget, you aren't going to find anything better at a local big-box store.

I need a GPU by $233, doesn't even have to be new. I've got a 500W
power supply.

Look, you can definitely find beefier used 7750 DDR5 cards on the market, but if it were me, I’d be grabbing this new one.

By the way, what kind of power supply are we actually talking about here? Saying "500W" doesn't tell me anything useful.

Corsair CX Series 500 w. I was honestly weighing my options—maybe hunting down a used one with some kind of warranty if I could get lucky, though honestly, picking up a brand new unit isn't a bad move either.

That’s a solid power supply.

As for used cards, maybe look at a 6850, 6790, GTX470/460, GTX550 Ti, or even a 5770...

One more thing. I'm browsing the Sapphire site and they have about ten different versions of the 6670, including some DDR3 models. So, looking at this DDR5 one click,
should I assume all these DDR5 cards are identical except for their port layouts?
EDIT: I'm running some cheap, bottom-shelf 400W power supply right now. Is that going to cut it?

Just grab the cheapest 6670 DDR5 you can find.

Building anything with a junk power supply isn't exactly a smart move, but honestly, this thing pulls so little power it’ll almost certainly work.

Can anyone point me toward a decent graphics card I should pick up around $83 so I can actually get this game running? Here are the specs: http://www.videogamer.com/pc/euro_tr...uirements.html

New cards from $83 are barely any better than basic integrated graphics, so they probably aren't worth the money at all...
