So, what's the verdict, guys? An MSI 7750 paired with a 23'' monitor... you think that actually holds up? Would it even be playable for the games coming out lately?

If you're planning on cranking everything up to max settings, there's just no way.

It might just be running at 720p, so it’s probably not as big of a deal; after all, the PS3 handles most games at that resolution anyway...

I’m with Osmanko on this one. You might be able to run upcoming titles, but you’ll definitely have to dial back the resolution and settings just to scrape together 30 fps.

Alright... thanks... $250 and that’s that. Why even bother dropping over a grand if everything works perfectly fine on "normal
" 😁

' 😁

If you can push it up to 7770 ($300), go for it; otherwise, 7750 is perfectly fine
What kind of CPU and power supply are you running?

What kind of CPU and power supply are we talking about here?

I'm putting together a build for maybe $450, so yeah...🙂 I'd probably just grab an Intel Core i5 or whatever. I don't really care about all the tiny little details—as long as it actually lets me play some games, I'm good.😁

Got a GeForce GTX 660 as a Christmas gift. Thinking about offloading it to grab a 7870 Hawk instead? Looking at the benchmarks side-by-side... I've heard Intel improved their drivers lately so things run smoother. Think NVIDIA will actually step up their game?

Or if I go with the 7870 Hawk, am I just chasing a phantom upgrade?

I actually have that same graphics card myself—but honestly, I don't see the point in messing around with sales and trying to charge extra just because one card might perform slightly better in a specific game while the other holds its own in a different one. It all feels a bit pointless, doesn't it? 😁

Oh, please. First you have to deal with the headache of actually finding a buyer, and then you still have to convince them that the thing even supports Havok.

That’s just completely not worth the investment, and honestly, it doesn't make any sense since your current setup already handles everything you need perfectly.

Hey there—what would be the best GPU upgrade for this setup if my budget is capped at $267
? CPU: Intel Core i5
RAM: 4GB
Motherboard: ASRock M3A770DE
Current GPU: Radeon HD 6450

Grab an HD 7750 with DDR5 memory, but if you can swing $3350 bucks, I guess it's probably better to just go for the HD 7770

I'm looking at Best Buy right now and seeing a bunch of those 7750 and 7770 cards—are they basically the same thing, or is there actually a real difference between them?

The HD 7770 is a bit faster, honestly.

It mostly comes down to the warranty, the cooler, and stuff like that.

With the HD 7770, the biggest thing is the jump from DDR3 to DDR5. The DDR5 version is faster, so maybe check that one out.

Alright, so it's the HD 7770 then—thanks a ton!

Resolution is actually a huge factor here. When you're asking these kinds of questions, it really helps if you include your monitor specs or at least the resolution you're running, because the performance differences can be pretty massive...
