If you check the manual, it looks like there isn't an expansion slot for an extra graphics card on the motherboard.

Hey, if I plug a new graphics card into the PCI slot on my motherboard while there's already integrated graphics running, will the system recognize the new one and automatically disable the integrated chip?

You’ll probably need them. You should look for those drivers—either grab the ones on the CD that came with the card, or just download the latest versions directly from the Nvidia or AMD website.

You might need to head into your BIOS and set the graphics card in the PCI-e slot as your primary display...

I'm looking to pick up a new GPU—I wouldn't call myself much of a gamer or anything, but I really want to be able to play stuff like the upcoming GTA 5.

My current setup:
-Intel Core i3
-AsRock FM2 A75M-DGS
-8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 (2x4)
-EVGA Core edition 450 W.

I'd really prefer not to spend more than $700-$250.

In that price bracket, you're looking at an AMD 7750 DDR5—but here’s the catch: how will GTA V run? You'll definitely be able to play it, but don't expect to crank those settings up to High.

If you can stretch your budget a bit, try to aim for the 7770 instead. At this price point, it's a fantastic deal.

Now, if you want the absolute ideal setup, go with this:

My GPU just died on me. Checked out some local shops nearby and found these options. Looking for opinions and recommendations:
1. Dell Radeon HD5450 1gb---$110

2. AMD Radeon HD6570 2gb---$167

WHICH ONE IS BETTER AND IS IT EVEN WORTH BUYING? If not, any suggestions up to $167.

What else is in your rig? What kind of power supply are you running?

At your budget, you're getting the best bang for your buck with the HD7770. The 7750 is a bit weaker, but if you aren't trying to crank everything to max settings, it might actually do the job for you.

Planning on gaming?

The HD6570 is okay for games, but for that $167 you could probably snag an HD6670, which is a way better pick. Toss in another $5 or so and you can grab an HD6670 with GDDR5 memory:

Sean Doyle9 said:Basically, my GPU just died on me. I went ahead and poked around some local shops nearby to see what was available, and I stumbled upon these two cards. I’d love to get your take on them and hear any recommendations you might have:
1. Dell Radeon HD5450 1gb---$110

2. AMD RADEON HD6570 2gb---$167

WHICH ONE IS BETTER, and is it even worth picking up either of these? If they aren't great, I'd appreciate a recommendation for something else under $167.

That really depends on which processor you're running. What CPU are you using?

You really need to give us the exact power supply model, because if it's just some random 300W unit, it’s probably junk. You're definitely going to need a new PSU if you're planning on dropping in any decent graphics card, especially since that E6550 processor isn't exactly a low-power chip. If you happen to have an overclockable motherboard, you might be able to squeeze a little more out of that rig, but honestly, I doubt it...

Sean Doyle9 said:So, my GPU finally kicked the bucket—RIP—and I went poking around some local shops nearby to see what was left on the shelves. I stumbled upon these two options and figured I'd run them by you guys to see what you think or if anyone has any solid recommendations:
1. NVIDIA GeForce GT 210 1GB---$110

2. AMD Radeon HD6570 2GB---$167

WHICH ONE IS THE BETTER CALL HERE...

Better for what? Honestly, if you aren't trying to actually play games, just grab whichever one is the cheapest thing on the shelf.

I use a PlayStation 3 for newer titles. My PC handles older, low-demand stuff like Settlers or SimCity.
The power supply is 300W. Is that enough?
What's the recommendation?

So, what's the verdict on this one?

The ASUS model of the GT630-2GD3.

I mean, if you’re actually looking to play anything modern... not really. If you're still rocking that old 9800 GT, this thing is actually a massive step backward—seriously, it's way weaker. Honestly, if you want an upgrade that actually matters without breaking the bank, you should be looking at something like an HD 7770 or maybe a GTX 650 instead.

I honestly can’t wrap my head around this logic, nor can I seem to follow the thread here. My intention was simply to pick up a dedicated GPU for DirectX 1 support, assuming that such an upgrade would absolutely demolish these older cards in every conceivable metric. Are you suggesting that the old GT 2x, 4x, or 5x series actually outperforms newer hardware across the board? It defies all common sense.
If that's the case, I might as well just stick with my 9800; Crysis is clearly out of the question unless some miracle DX10 patch magically appears out of thin air.

So, what is your professional assessment of this particular option?

MSI Video Card Radeon HD 6570 GDDR3 1GB/128bit, 650MHz/1334MHz, PCI-E 2.1 x16, HDMI, DVI, Dual

Nothing under 7770 even comes close to your 9800 🙂
. Anything less is just throwing money down the drain
