this is a post regarding a specific thread about Sony—no points awarded, obviously,
then we have my mother’s nonstop nonsense happening right where the actual discussion should be—in the chat topic. That’s 35 points bringing them straight to a ban.

Can someone with a functioning brain explain how this scoring system even works?

Can someone sane explain how this point system actually works?

I'm not sure if I count as "sane," but I'll give it a shot. In the meantime, that first post was flagged and handled—that's settled. Moderators can't catch everything instantly. Second, while chat threads tend to be moderated a bit more leniently, they aren't exempt from the general forum rules. Mather's post crossed the line from joking around into straight-up insults.

Look, the mods don't see everything instantly. And yeah, maybe the chat threads get a bit more breathing room, but that doesn't mean they're some lawless wasteland exempt from the actual forum rules. darkmarlin16's post definitely crossed the line from just messing around into straight-up being offensive.

First, it was just a yellow card, 😉

but then, in some desperate attempt to "justify" himself or whatever, that second card they slapped on me—the one from the H&K post—got upgraded to a red.

If you think what I said was actually insulting, then basically 80% of NFL games would be played in a banana peel.

The rules aren't consistent across every single subforum, but that's nothing we haven't seen before.

Today was likely the deciding race—the energy in this thread was so intense I actually thought it was being broadcast this afternoon.

I can't tell if that's because they raced this morning or if it's just the atmosphere here on the subforum.

The mods should really be staying on top of things—facilitating discussions, keeping threads organized, and filtering out the spam and mindless fanboying... basically everything needed to keep a community healthy. Instead, it feels like all they do is hand out warnings. Sometimes those calls are fair, but other times it seems like they just don't get the context—or won't bother to—and it often feels more like an ego trip or a power move.

Look, I get where they're coming from—the forum is so chaotic lately that even the casual users are getting frustrated, which probably puts them in the crosshairs too. I suspect it’s just easier to slap a warning on someone than to actually clean up the mess, especially when we're dealing with constant 503 errors every few seconds.

Apparently, moderators don't catch everything instantly. Also, just because chat threads are moderated more leniently doesn't mean they're exempt from the site rules. Mamić's post crossed the line from joking around into straight-up insults.

Sorry, my first post got penalized later—it was originally just a warning without points—meaning the mods definitely saw the violation... but imagine the absurdity: Mamić commits a much larger infraction by rambling in the wrong thread, yet he gets a pass while I'm getting flagged for posting in the Vanguard thread. Pure nonsense.

Here, edge, now you know what actually happened, so please respond again.

Did any of the admins even consider whether these moderators should still be running things here? If they aren't going to remove them, they should at least sit them down and show them where they're messing up.
Personally, I think they're doing this on purpose—it's baffling how this is being allowed to slide...

H-K, I apologize for spying on you, but that day I was just completely fed up with TBD's constant nonsense regarding formulas, and your example was just the first thing I ran into. Sorry.

I just finished watching the race and catching up on this thread, and I honestly walked away with the exact same impression.

When you step back and look at the raw data—not this morning's specific thread, mind you—without being blinded by fanboy passion for any particular driver or team, one thing becomes glaringly obvious: if you were to cover up the left side of the screen, it wouldn't be easy to tell which user is the moderator and which one is... well, let's just say "some complete moron."

Furthermore, on this forum, a moderator considers quoting their own "complete moron" to be totally irrelevant because of how outdated it is, yet they point to it as the ultimate (actually, the only—since I didn't see any other "moronic" quotes myself) proof of partiality, saying, "See, now your character is on full display" 😲. It’s a rather curious novelty: handing out partiality penalties based on character.

Someone else made a much bigger mess by rambling in the wrong thread, yet here we are, dealing with someone talking in the Visa thread instead. Just pure nonsense.
Anyway, Ryan Vaughn7, now that you know how things actually went down, please give us your take again.

At the end of the day, the post was handled fairly. I don't mind at all if a moderator changes their mind or decides later on that a harsher penalty was necessary. It happens to everyone. It's happened to me, too.

Ryan Vaughn7 said:The main thing is that the post was fairly penalized in the end. I don't care if a moderator changed their mind or decided later that a harsher penalty was needed—it’s happened to others, and it’s certainly happened to me.

Fine, sure—posts from H&M, 4seasson, and a few others only got flagged after a mountain of reports, even though the mod was right there—actually, still arguing with them.
It’s like they’re just waiting for certain people to trip up before handing out warnings and points, while everyone else gets a pass for the exact same thing. Look at this example: you have to report the same thing six or seven times before anyone actually lifts a finger. Why? Why does the hammer fall like a Pit Bull on some people, while others are allowed to ramble on unchecked?

Look, this isn't an isolated incident—this happens CONSTANTLY. I could dig up plenty of examples where the admins here on the forums stripped people of points they earned during private chats over things like F1, so why aren't we doing something about those mods?

Yeah, you say it was an oversight or a mistake—I'm saying they do it on purpose... regardless, whether you're right or I am, the point stands: someone needs to talk to them, because these "mistakes" happen way too FREQUENTLY.

So, just to "make up" for it or whatever, after I got my first yellow, Hertz ended up getting handed a red card.

If this counts as me being offensive, then 80% of professional football is basically just playing in banana peels.

Seth said:Alright, after all that mess with the last thread, we figured it was time to just start a new one.

New thread, new rules.
  • Look, the standard forum rules still apply—everyone agreed to them when they signed up. Just so we’re clear and nobody gets confused: this topic isn't off-limits.
  • Patience is running thin. Don't push it.
  • Keep in mind that if you get flagged, we’re looking at your whole history of warnings and past drama with other users before deciding on a penalty.

If I remember correctly, right after you finished bickering and going back and forth with Boeing in that thread, you were the one complaining about being harassed by them and everyone else. And then, wouldn't you know it, they had to shut down the PDF chat and open a new one with these exact same rules.
Honestly, we need another saga about this endless tug-of-war between Maminho and SuKki... except Maminho is just out here fueling the fire for no reason at all.

Besides, if my memory serves me right, you promised both me and Tyndall that if your permanent ban ever gets lifted, you wouldn't pull any more crap at football games. If I'm remembering correctly, you even asked for a cut of the money from that PDF. 🤔
What are you even doing over there?🤷

Regarding that second post—yeah, my bad. I accidentally flashed a yellow instead of a red. I ended up asking them to take the yellow back, then finally handed out the red card. My mistake.

So what if he stayed yellow? What's the big deal?
First off, consider this a yellow card warning. If you keep acting like this, you’re getting a red. And if you keep pushing it even after the red? You're banned. Period.
Hertz doesn't have any active bans on them... so again, what exactly is the problem?

Where do you get the idea that someone else's nonsense somehow justifies your own?
You’re responsible for what you post. Period. Just because someone else is doing it doesn't make it okay—especially when it's the same people constantly repeating the same tired points.

First, you get warnings via yellow cards. If you keep acting out, you get reds. If you keep going after the reds, you get banned...
And unlike you, Frank Collins85 doesn't have any active cards... so where's the problem?

Where does this idea come from—that someone else's behavior justifies yours?
Everyone is responsible for their own posts. Just because someone else is doing something similar isn't an excuse, especially for those who constantly repeat the same mistakes.

Even though the rules have been crystal clear for four years now?

Doesn't matter, I guess. Does the Formula 1 subforum just follow whatever interpretation the moderator feels like using today?

Is there anything more fundamental than the concept of teamwork? It’s a word we throw around constantly in professional settings, yet I often wonder if we truly grasp its weight. When we talk about moving forward together, are we actually synchronizing our efforts, or are we just a collection of individuals working in the same direction by sheer coincidence? There is a profound difference between mere cooperation and true synergy. One is functional, while the other is transformative. Does anyone else feel that modern corporate culture often settles for the former because the latter requires far too much vulnerability? kaže:

Frank Collins85, I really should apologize for my spying, but honestly, that day was just pure madness. Between Boeing constantly nitpicking over formulas and me running headfirst into your example before I even knew what hit me, things just got messy. My bad.

Apology accepted. 😉
The edge. It’s a concept we often discuss in passing, yet rarely stop to truly dissect. What does it actually mean to stand on that precipice? Is it merely a threshold, a thin line between stability and chaos, or is it something more profound—a state of being where potential meets risk? I find myself wondering if we spend too much of our lives trying to retreat from the edge, seeking the comfort of the middle ground. There is safety there, certainly. But isn't true growth found only when we lean into the uncertainty? When we push ourselves toward that boundary where the familiar ends and the unknown begins? It makes one wonder: are we avoiding the edge because we fear falling, or because we fear what we might become if we finally decide to jump? kaže:
At the end of the day, what matters most is that the final decision was just. I honestly don't have any issue with a moderator changing their mind or eventually deciding that a stricter penalty was necessary. It’s happened to others before, and frankly, it’s happened to me too. Is it always seamless? No. But fairness should always be the ultimate goal.

Since we’re already dragging out my suspension, let's just get to the heart of it: why did I even get banned in the first place? I don't usually find myself at odds with the moderators; I know my own flaws and I'm fully aware that I can be a bit of an ass sometimes, but was this really worth a 35-point penalty? What on earth could have been so hilarious that it drove the mod to such an extreme? It seems I managed to push Jason Campbell70—who is actually a pretty sharp, well-educated guy and quite a knowledgeable Formula 1 expert—so far past his breaking point that he decided to hit me with a massive 350-point deduction. Honestly, I probably should have just laughed at myself in front of the screen instead of making things so difficult.🤷

Since we’re already dragging out my disciplinary record, why don't you tell me why I was flagged in the first place? I don't usually find myself complaining about warnings; I know my own temperament, and I'm well aware that I can be a bit of a jerk at times. But what on earth warranted a 35-point deduction? What could have possibly been so hilarious that Pilatus—who is generally an intelligent, well-educated guy and quite the F1 expert—lost his cool enough for this moderator to slap him with a 350-point penalty? I suppose I should have just sat there and laughed at myself in front of the screen...🤷

Honestly, I don't think you should spend too much energy overthinking these things. I once took a 35-point hit just because I quoted and screenshotted some ridiculous demand from a user on a different forum.

A warning is rarely about actual insults; it’s often just because quoting someone else's post elsewhere ends up offending them. If they felt hurt by being quoted, then so be it. I didn't even complain, because if the warning hadn't been issued, they would have just been offended by that instead. 🤷
