Epic.

Personally, I get butterflies in my stomach every single time I hear this
.
If my memory serves me right—and it usually does—they actually used that theme as a sort of recurring leitmotif throughout the movie
.
And just think about it... I’m not exactly a huge fan of Wagner. Well, how can I say I don't like him? 😁

This is incredible 👍

It also made me think back to those legendary Ride of the Valkyries scenes with the helicopters

🙏 🙏 🙏

It’s actually pretty fascinating how effectively Wagner’s work translates to cinema
He basically would have been the precursor to the modern cinematic muse, right?

Maybe that’s why I was drawn to the intensity of those old Broadway dramas—that sheer force of expression and over-the-top drama he pushed, when even the theater and the stage weren't enough for him; it was just pure, unadulterated 🙂

Honestly, watching this again, I can't help but feel like this is basically a gay movie. You've got these two guys training together, then they go at it in a fight—but you know they actually love each other. Just muscles everywhere. It feels like those 80s action flicks were really just a backdoor way to introduce queer themes into cinema, maybe even paving the way for the massive wave of people coming out in the 90s.

If my memory serves me right—and it usually does—they actually used this entire theme as a sort of musical leitmotif throughout the movie.

And just imagine... I'm not even particularly fond of Wagner, though how much I dislike him is... well, a conversation for another day.😁

The whole film is an absolute epic. Even with all the modern technological bells and whistles we have today, they just can't replicate that specific "Excalibur-caliber" weight this score carries... It has "that certain something."🙂🙂

What do you think about this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnpnzM91zIA

The best part starts around the 00:45 mark—when Percival hurls Excalibur back into the river... man, paired with that epic music... 😁 and that look on his face when the sword falls back into the water... god, it hits hard.

A few weeks back, I sat down to watch the animated Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, and man, that opening score really 😲
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOSS-ZFDMo4

It’s just too good...
Anyway, the movie itself is 👍

I honestly can’t get over how incredible the Avengers Main theme is... I won't lie—there was this specific, visceral rush I felt every single time those opening notes kicked in while I was sitting in the theater watching the movie:

I might be taking this a bit far, but I’m fairly certain I haven't heard a more powerful superhero score than what Zimmer delivered for Superman.

It mostly comes down to Zimmer and those classic old-school spaghetti westerns.

I guess whenever I'm just staring at the screen with zero clue what to watch, I'll probably just crack open a Budweiser and lose myself in a movie, though the music is usually the best part, honestly

Fair point, but if we're talking about the Rambo score, I actually prefer this track much more:

There’s just an intangible quality to this film—that certain "something"—that modern tech simply can't quite capture. 🙂

It’s pretty much the same deal with Milious’s take on Conan—it follows that same pattern.

That whole fight scene in Gladiator was honestly a bit much for me—it was just brutal, bone-chilling stuff that really gets under your skin.

If you ask me, Game of Thrones just isn't quite hitting the mark when it comes to following in the footsteps of those old-school classics. It feels like it’s trying way too hard to chase the ghost of what made those legendary series great, rather than actually standing on its own two feet.
Yeah, alright—let's say there's still some hope. 😁

What's your take on this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnpnzM91zIA

Here we go again with that "my" Wagner crowd—it’s like they just can't help themselves. It's impossible to lose when you've already decided who the hero is. 😁

neonfalcon16 said:Basically, it’s all about Zurich. I’m sitting here, staring at nothing in particular, just thinking about those old Spaghetti Westerns.

Yeah... you're not wrong there—it’s a whole different breed of rage. 🙏

Man, whenever I hear this stuff, I just feel like wandering off into the woods somewhere... just totally checked out from reality.

image
And this one? It makes me want to start my own crew and go out swinging against some local thugs... just pure chaos.

image
This is like that timeless number 1...
image
And here’s the timeless number 2...

image
When this hits, I could honestly stand there facing down a tsunami and still feel terrified.

image
This is how I’d want to go out... fighting for what I actually care about (even if my odds are basically zero). Pretty epic, right?

image
This one just makes me want to... I don't even know how to put it... fly off like a bullet with no target?!

image
It's only been a few days...!!!

Prometheus (2012) - soundtrack

Man, I have to pick out one of my absolute favorites from this list... "Hammerpede" just hits different, you know? Every time I hear it, I seriously get chills running down my spine. 😱

I might be taking this too far, but I honestly don't think I've heard a better superhero theme than Williamson's work on Superman.

You might have gone a bit too far there.😛 😁

The theme is beautiful and definitely captures that sense of grandeur, but every single time I hear it, I’m immediately transported back to that scene where Batman falls through the corridor in Arkham Asylum, trying to save Rachel... and then the end of The Dark Knight. My god, when I saw that film in the theater for the first time, that final scene, the music, and then the title card: DARK KNIGHT... man, I practically wanted to jump out of my seat. As soon as it ended, I had to watch it again just to process how perfectly everything was composed!
