So, late 2012 or maybe early 2013, we're getting Rob Zombie's The Lords of Salem. Man, I am seriously hyped for this one. I mean, I've always had respect for 😲Rob Zombie as an artist—you know, the singer, the director, all of it. The guy just has these dark, twisted ideas he wants to put on screen, and honestly, props to him for everything he's done so far, both with the movies and the music (separate from this, obviously).
His takes on > were actually pretty decent—he changed enough stuff up to make them interesting, which I liked; the guy's got vision. H2 wasn't exactly a perfect remake, but it was weird and different enough that I'm cool with it. And I actually dug the first remake because it went deep into Michael's childhood and how his head got so messed up.
Some of his other stuff includes: House of 1000 Corpses (2003), Devil's Rejects (2006), and that animated flick The Haunted World of el Superbeasto (2009).

Alright, let me dive a bit deeper into this upcoming movie.
As usual, his sexy wife Sheri Moon Zombie is gonna be in it too. I thought she was great as the "mother" in Halloween. We also got Sid Haig joining the cast, who was awesome in House of 1000 Corpses and Devil's Rejects. You can check the rest of the cast over on IMDb. 😁
Filming kicked off back on October 17, 2011, and it should be dropping sometime in early 2013. Though, if you look at Wikipedia, it says it might show up at the Sundance Film Festival around September 10, 2012...
Zombie actually dropped a song called "The Lords of Salem" way back in 2006 on his solo album Educated Horses. Now it looks like it's finally time to bring those ideas to life on the big screen. All in all, we'll just have to see how our boy Rob handles it this time. I bet all the metalheads, Zombie fans, and horror buffs are gonna be pretty stoked for this new release. 😁

Heidi, a blonde rock chick, DJs at the local radio station, and together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster) forms part of the ‘Big H Radio Team’. A mysterious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, "a gift from the Lords". She assumes it's a rock band on a mission to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lords’ record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma. Later, Whitey plays the Lords’ record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with listeners. The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon Heidi and her cohorts find that the gig is far from the rock spectacle they're expecting; the original Lords of Salem are returning, and they're out for blood.

Me too, I was actually picturing something along the lines of Salem's Lot; I'm not expecting much more than just some bloody mayhem...

This looks pretty intriguing, to say the least—it’s definitely got that distinct 70s goth vibe going on! Personally, I’ve never been much of a fan when it comes to Tim Burton, whether we're talking about his music or his movies, but maybe he actually hit the nail on the head with this one... almost like he was channeling a bit of John Boorman... plus, it feels like he went digging through the vintage archives to pull out those classic horror icons we all know and love, like Clifton Collins Jr., Sigourney Weaver, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Sheryl Lee.

I am seriously counting down the days for this one. 😍

Honestly, none of this makes sense, it's like Stephen King just has some exclusive legal claim to the name Salem or something. 🤣

Well, I guess it’s cool that someone actually finds this interesting and is getting a good vibe from it. 🙂

I’ve finally sat through it, and while I wouldn't go so far as to call the film a total disaster, it ultimately falls apart under the weight of its own Satanic hallucinations and psychedelic aberrations. You can clearly see the influence of Carpenter here; unlike the earlier entries, the focus has shifted almost entirely toward building an atmosphere. But does it actually work? Not really. In the end, it fails to provide any meaningful narrative closure, leaving you with nothing more than the bitter aftertaste of a glorified, overproduced music video for some extreme metal band. That said, certain sequences are undeniably well-crafted from a technical standpoint, which saves it from being a complete waste. There is also a solid lineup of cult horror veterans whose talents could have been utilized much more effectively, not to mention those clever nods to classic horror successes like Rosemary beba and the chilling tension found in the original Halloween.

I’ve noticed quite a few people saying they absolutely loved how this felt like a perfect blend of Kubrick and Rosemary beba. Honestly, considering how tight the budget was, I feel like the director had just enough breathing room to really let his vision for this zombie flick run wild. 🙂

Also, I don't see what the big deal is when a director casts his wife in almost all of his movies. I mean, hell, if I were behind the camera, I'd probably do the exact same thing! Take Mr. Stuart Gordon, for instance—he pretty much has his wife in nearly every single one of his films... though, granted, he usually ends up killing her off on screen. 🤣

Sheri Moon gave a solid performance, but I honestly don't see much of a connection to Kubrick's style. Sure, you might find glimpses of it in certain grandiose set designs here and there, but that's about it.

Caught this one yesterday. Honestly? I dig it. Even with a tiny $2 million budget, the visuals are absolutely top-tier. The sets look incredible—like, seriously impressive. You can tell it was made by someone who actually gives a damn about filmmaking, rather than just some studio suit trying to grab a quick paycheck. That kind of passion really shows.

It’s got a bit of everything, and those trippy sequences? Definitely didn't disappoint. This is one of those movies I'm definitely revisiting once I finally upgrade my TV setup. It’s a total trip, and honestly, such a refreshing break from the usual garbage flooding theaters lately—you know, those soulless torture porn flicks, cheap ghost stories, low-budget POV trash, endless reboots, and all the other nonsense infecting modern cinema.

Look, don't get me wrong, it’s not exactly a masterpiece or anything, but compared to the junk being pumped out these days, it’s totally worth your time. The visual style carries the whole thing. The plot is a little thin, sure, but let’s be real—that’s not why you’re watching this anyway.
