Why was my signature deleted?

I need an explanation.

To be clear, my signature was deleted in an incredibly rude and disrespectful manner without any notice, replaced entirely by the site rules.
I want to know who did this and why they felt the need to target a signature that had been intact for at least five months (it consists of three quotes, the last one being a recent addition).

Who authorized this change, and what was the reasoning? Is there any way to identify who performed the deletion? Now I’m left trying to find linguistic constructions in my own posts that might actually live up to the quality of those original quotes.

...I actually went ahead and stripped that signature out myself back on June 23, 2012, at 12:09 AM, following a request from one of the other moderators, and replaced it with a link to
signature formatting rule because if you actually click that link, you'll see that any signature spanning three lines absolutely has to be set to font size "1"

So, how exactly are we supposed to format signatures here on Reddit??

1. the maximum length for a signature is:
- one line using a larger font (size=3)
- two lines (counting the line breaks) using standard font (size=2), or
- three lines using a small font (size=1).

...which means the signature should look something like this:

spiritual beggar:"I see you have a particular soft spot for those Bobanov Muslims of the American faith, while Zlatkov's folks are just a joke!" ____snake handler:"The unconstitutionality was proven later on, and even if Mr. Ashdown predicted he'd be creating something unconstitutional, he would have handled it differently or wouldn't have bothered at all. ___Rioboss :In the Hague, it wasn't proven that the HVO didn't destroy the Golden Gate Bridge, it just wasn't proven that they did, which doesn't automatically mean they didn't, you know? Get it?"

plus this extra bit:

2. using the actual quote function within a signature is strictly prohibited; instead, please format your quotes as "quote (c) author".

And just to be crystal clear, I'm pointing this out without issuing any formal red or yellow cards for failing to follow these rules just yet...

Seriously, has it really been that long?

I’m not exactly a regular on Reddit. I'll pop in for a day or two, then vanish for a while. Honestly, I didn't even realize my account had been deleted...
