Now after the Canadian Grand Prix, that gap has grown to 40 points (Alonso 164, Webber 124).
What a beast. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

That was some impressive damage control today.
And now we get to deal with a hot month where nobodyโ€™s even driving.

Hmm... why is everyone suddenly being so quiet about the tire degradation and debris?

Maybe itโ€™s because we actually sat through a decent race for once?

Look, the result wasn't exactly stellar. The main championship contender just shaved 15 points off the lead, while the rest of the field can go ahead and celebrate their little victories if they want.

Samuel Ruiz4 said:Kimi is still the king, even if he isn't exactly thrilled about taking second place. Heโ€™s sitting just eight points away from second place in the standings, but letโ€™s be realโ€”I don't see Fernando Alonso having any prayer at chasing down the title with a car that performs like this. It's just not there. On the other hand, Kimi actually has a legitimate shot at taking the championship if things keep moving in this direction.

What exactly makes you think that? ๐Ÿ˜

Look, you can't just take his word at face valueโ€”not before and certainly not after the D-race. There's simply no substance there to build an argument on. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜

steelmaker83 said:So... why is everyone suddenly playing nice? Where did all the trash talk about tire degradation and ruining the rubber go? Itโ€™s weirdly quiet.

Maybe itโ€™s just because we actually sat through a damn good race for once?

I found that just as fascinating, too. ๐Ÿ˜

Maybe it's just because we caught such an incredible race?

Can we just collectively agree that this race was easily the most mind-numbing thing we've seen all season so far??? ๐Ÿ™‚

Honestlyโ€”as a Lotus supporterโ€”I actually found it pretty tense. ๐Ÿ™‚

I agree! I hadn't realized how much people were finding it dull until I read the comments here. Once I saw that our Renaults were looking solid and there was actually a shot at a first or second place finish, my nerves really started to fray. In the end, we didn't just grab a podium; we secured a second and third place. Itโ€™s a good resultโ€”it proves we have the strength to compete. ๐Ÿ™

It was an absolute thrill ride for the Lotus fansโ€”those die-hard Renault loyalistsโ€”and the McLaren crowd, though I suppose it wasn't quite as much fun for the Ferrari and Red Bull supporters

Anyway, looking back at the race... Hamilton just had everything under control from start to finishโ€”total composureโ€”and as for the Lotus, their car is clearly capable of winning races, even if we all realized that long before this weekend actually rolled around

Iโ€™d say this was one of the better races we've seen all seasonโ€”the track layout basically rendered both the tires and the KERS useless, which honestly pushed everything back toward that pure racing style from five or more years ago...

If the tires had just held up a bit longer and they brought back mid-race refueling, weโ€™d really be talking about perfection.

Brian Campbell36 said:How can you say thereโ€™s no chance when heโ€™s sitting on a 40-point lead over the next guy, Marko pojasniti...๐Ÿ˜•

Maybe walk me through that logic, or are you just venting because Alonso is actually consistent and the only driver putting points on the board every single race?

If Kimi hadn't made his comeback to Formula 1, Iโ€™d be pulling for Alonso too, so this isn't some jealousy thing... it's just that Ferrari is mediocre. We only think they're good because Alonso is dragging them along. A 40-point gap isn't nothing, but with a car this bad, it's not exactly a mountain either...

It's a must watch, honestly. Though, looking at the big picture, maybe not quite. It could have been worse.

That crappy track in Canada helped some people yesterday (definitely Ferrari), while it definitely screwed over others.
So, we'll probably have to wait for another day to see how the showdown between Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel against the Lotus cars actually plays out. I'll say this: it wouldโ€™ve been interesting to see how things wrapped up on a faster, more flowing circuit. I'm not saying Kimi Rรคikkรถnen would have definitely beaten Lewis Hamilton, but then again, neither would Sebastian Vettel and Romain Grosjean. ๐Ÿคท

Lewis Hamilton was the absolute winner of the trophy in Canada.
His win this time wasn't just about being faster; it was more layered than that. He was on fire from the first lap to the last, from Friday all the way through Sunday. That, combined with some seriously tight teamwork, is what secured him this massive victory.

The pole position during qualifying and the flawless pit work made a huge difference. Without that, despite his raw speed, he might have ended up stuck in 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th.
So, Lewis and McLaren were absolutely flawless! ๐Ÿ™

In the next tierโ€”basically in the same boatโ€”youโ€™ve got Kimi Rรคikkรถnen, Romain Grosjean, and Sebastian Vettel. They were good, they were fast, but I doubt any of them are actually happy with how things shook out, regardless of what they say in interviews.

Oh yeah, and Bruno Senna. Way to go!

"Deserved, dominant, undeserved, lucky, brilliant..."
But I don't think I've ever actually heard anyone describe a win as multilayered before... maybe it's just me.

Boring race, honestly. I guess Lewis played it smart though, maybe he was just saving rubber for the pit stop... Kimi was looking killer, total shame we didn't see him actually lunging at Chemist... which basically means Lewis had everything totally under control. And man, look at what Schumi does ๐Ÿ™‚ those two Germans kind of teamed up, Schumacher and Alzheimer ๐Ÿ˜
