Golden State vs. San Antonio
San Antonio @ 1.90

The Golden State Warriors (23-42) are currently sitting on the eighth-worst record in the league, but here’s the kicker: they actually need to land in that bottom seven bracket just to make sure they don't lose control of that protected 2012 first-round pick they traded away to Utah a while back. It’s a bit of a weird situation where they're basically rooting for bad luck, because if the Warriors lose Thursday, they'll almost certainly end up tied with either the Brooklyn Nets (22-43) or the Toronto Raptors (22-43)—who happen to be facing off in their final game—for that seventh-worst spot in the league.

Maybe I'm overthinking this one, but I’ve got my eye on San Antonio at 1.90. It feels like one of those spots where you just have to take a shot. I guess we'll see how it shakes out.

So, look, the Golden State Warriors are sitting at 23-42 right now, which puts them basically in the gutter with one of the eight worst records in the entire league, but... They basically have to scrape their way into the bottom seven just to make sure they don't lose that 2012 first-round pick—you know, the one Utah snagged in that earlier trade. It’s a huge gamble, I guess. If the Warriors lose Thursday, they’re pretty much locked into a tie for the seventh-worst record in the league alongside either the Brooklyn Nets or Toronto—whoever ends up splitting hairs in their season finale at 22-43. I guess that's just how the math shakes out, maybe.

I was just about to type that out myself—gotta beat you to the punch, I guess! 10/10

Nicholas Chase34 said:The matchup between Golden State and San Antonio always feels like a collision of two different eras, doesn't it? On one hand, you have the storied legacy of the Spurs, and on the other, that relentless Golden State machine. It’s one of those games where you find yourself sitting back, wondering if the tactical chess match will actually yield something meaningful or if we're just watching a high-speed collision of philosophies. One side plays with a structured, almost rhythmic precision, while the other relies on that chaotic, perimeter-heavy energy that can break a defense if they catch them sleeping. Honestly, I’m looking forward to seeing how the adjustments play out in the second half.
San Antonio at 1.90 odds.

The Golden State Warriors are sitting at a dismal 23-42, holding onto the eighth-worst record in the league, but don't let that number fool you into thinking they’re completely out of the conversation. If they don't manage to land somewhere in that bottom seven, they’re going to lose that protected 2012 first-round pick—the one they picked up from Utah in that earlier trade. It's a high-stakes situation, to say the least. If the Warriors lose Thursday, they’re essentially locking themselves into a tie for the seventh-worst record in the league, landing right alongside either the Brooklyn Nets or the Toronto Raptors—both sitting at 22-43—as those two prepare to face off in their season finale.

I honestly don't get it. Why on earth is the betting line for the Spurs so heavily skewed in their favor when they’re facing a Golden State team that looks this mediocre? It feels completely disconnected from reality. 🤷

It’s because none of their heavy hitters are going to play. Even the coach won't be on the bench.🙂

Nicholas Chase34 said:Man, watching that Golden State vs. San Antonio matchup was... something else. I don't know if I can even find the right words—maybe just "intense" is too simple? It was a total grind. You look at how the Warriors are playing lately, and it’s like they’re constantly fighting against their own momentum, you know? And then you've got San Antonio, who just won't quit. They play that gritty, fundamental style that makes you want to scream at your TV sometimes, but you really have to respect the hustle. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it wasn't exactly a blowout, which is funny because you'd think with the talent on the floor, one team would just steamroll the other. But no—it was just a messy, beautiful, exhausting battle. Maybe it's just me, but I felt like every single possession was being fought for like it was Game 7 of the Finals. Just a wild ride from start to finish.
Maybe I’m just seeing things, but I’ve got my eye on San Antonio at 1.90—it feels like one of those spots where you could grab some value if you're feeling gutsy. I guess we'll see how it plays out, but I'm leaning that way.

I'm all in. ☕
Bradley Kern6 said:I mean, why on earth is the spread on the Spurs so massive? Like, seriously—they’re such a powerhouse right now, and then you look at Golden State and they just seem... off. I don't know, maybe it's just how the oddsmakers are looking at it, but it feels totally overkill. 🤷

I mean, look—it’s probably because Parker, Duncan, and Ginobili likely won't be suiting up for the Spurs, and honestly, without that trio, they just aren't hitting that same level of dominance... though I guess Golden State is pretty shaky as it is anyway, especially with all these injuries piling up lately, not to mention what Nicholas Chase34 was saying earlier.

So, here’s how it goes...

San Antonio @Play 👍)
Memphis Grizzlies They’re probably gonna need everyone firing on all cylinders for that HCA matchup against the LA Clippers—I mean, they definitely won't need much extra juice for the Orlando Magic game, so maybe they just bench a few starters to save some legs? Either way, they’ll be heading into things without Howard and likely without Davis, which pretty much means they'll be playing without any actual presence in the paint. I'm expecting the Memphis Grizzlies to absolutely wreck them on the boards—between Gasol, Randolph, and Speights, the interior dominance should be pretty overwhelming, I guess.
Denver Nuggets I mean, they really just need to scrape by and finish 6th in the West—then they’re looking at a matchup against the LA Lakers. Honestly? I think they’d actually prefer that. Even if they have to face a slightly banged-up Kobe Bryant without MWP in the lineup, it still feels like a better path than having to go toe-to-toe with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but yeah... that seems like the move. 🤷 They’re up against the Minnesota Timberwolves—a team that honestly doesn't even need this win right now—and with all these injuries floating around the roster, I mean... they don't stand a chance tonight. Not a prayer, really.

What on earth is going on with Washington, D.C. lately? They’ve been playing out of their minds.
That said, I find it hard to believe they can pull off another win against Miami just a few days after facing them.

Betting Line: San Antonio wins, Memphis loses.
Now, I’d probably also throw in a double chance on Atlanta or a double chance on the Denver Nuggets. For those of you who really know their stuff, I have a question: could Dallas potentially finish sixth if they pull off a win and Denver slips up? Personally, I think most people would lean toward the Lakers, especially considering how badly they got swept last year. Then again, Atlanta might end up being HCA Healthcare. If there's no way Dallas can land that sixth spot, I guess I'll just put my money on Atlanta.

?

They could, since they're sitting at 3-1 against Denver

Last night, I missed out on the Magic spread.🙂 But hey, a win's a win, even if it’s slim.
That’s exactly what I needed when I don't trust my own gut—instead of picking the Spurs, I go with these morons. Of course, all the unders hit (Philadelphia, Indiana, Deng) + the Knicks pulled it off.

Regarding Denver—if they end up tied with Dallas, the Mavericks take the 6th seed because they're sitting at 3-1 against them this season. But don't hold your breath thinking Denver won't run into a Minnesota team like that.😉
On the flip side, Atlanta is fighting for HCA against Boston, and if they lose—assuming Boston wins, which isn't even a question—they'll lose that spot. I suspect the Mavericks know climbing to 6th is a long shot too, so I’m leaning toward the Hawks. I’d put my money on the under 194,5.

Well, look, I guess I'm not so smart after all. My gut was telling me Atlanta wouldn't be quite the same anymore, though I suppose I have my doubts about whether Dallas actually expects Denver to go out there and pull an upset in Minnesota...

It really just comes down to their motivation—whether they’re aiming to finish eighth and head into a matchup against the Bulls, or if they’d rather settle for seventh and take a crack at taking down Miami. 🤷

graniteviper2 said:Look, maybe I’m losing my touch—clearly, I'm not the genius I thought I was—but Atlanta just doesn't look like the same team to me anymore. Still, I highly doubt Dallas actually expects the Nuggets to go out there and pull an upset against Minnesota...

I don't know, I honestly think the Mavericks would much rather run into the Lakers—which means they'd have to land at the 6th seed—than face off against Oklahoma City. 🤷

What’s the move for Philly? Do they go take on Miami, or just take the L and head straight to Chicago?

Even if they pull off the win, the Knicks would basically need to stumble and lose just to let Philadelphia finish seventh. But honestly, looking at how they've been rolling through their last four games, I have a feeling they’d much rather face Miami 🤷

You’ve already picked out the two biggest locks on the board.
Just a word of caution: the San Antonio Spurs might end up being a public bet, because I’m not exactly feeling confident about Memphis. They did their job last night against the Pacers, but today they’re going up against a team that’s basically just cleaning up leftovers. Personally, I wouldn't touch that one.

Yeah, I think they take it today. Like you said, if they really wanted Miami to lose, they would have dropped yesterday and ended up in 8th just to play Chicago. Philly at 2.80? Might be worth a shot.
But even if New York wins, if Philly wins too, they still end up in 7th.

Both sides would honestly prefer to go up against Chicago, which is exactly what players from both teams have hinted at—specifically Jeffries from the New York Knicks and Turner spoke about yesterday regarding Philadelphia.

For the Knicks to face Chicago, they’d have to drop today’s game to the Bobcats, and Philadelphia would need to take down Detroit. That seems highly unlikely to me. Philadelphia will probably rest their starters, and I suspect Carmelo Anthony or Chandler might sit out for the Knicks. As for the others, I'm not quite sure yet. Stoudemire mentioned he still needs to find his rhythm, so there's that.

I don't really grasp the logic behind wanting to face the best team in the league when neither Philadelphia nor the Knicks have a particularly strong record against them, but hey, whatever works.🤷

My prediction is that Philadelphia loses tonight while the Knicks pull it off. Honestly, even we on this forum could take these Bobcats (okay, maybe not, but it would be a close one😬).

It's a shame Supersport decided not to include individual player scoring in their offerings; it would have been a great opportunity to bet the under on all the Chicago players.😬.
