I’m looking for any info you guys can throw my way regarding this working diagnosis my cousin just got. I’ve been scouring the web, trying to make sense of it all... but there isn't much out there in English, let alone anything helpful. From what I can gather, only about one in twenty Parkinson's cases actually presents with this specific diagnosis. To make matters even more complicated, her doctors listed a specific subtype in the notes, which makes this whole thing feel even more rare and heavy. They included a little note in parentheses explaining the subtype: gait akinesia.
Just a heads up, my cousin's mother—my aunt—struggled with Parkinson's too. My cousin is 65 now.
