So, I've got this movie file... it's an .rmvb format. The problem is, the captions are just terrible—they're actually in the wrong language entirely. But here's the kicker: I can't just swap them out for better ones because these ones are baked right into the video itself. They aren't separate files; they're hardcoded, I guess. Is there any way to actually get rid of them?

I'm afraid not, but you might be able to mask them somehow. Some players—I think VLC Media Player is one of them—have an option in the Settings that lets you turn the caption background black. That way, you could basically cover up those annoying hardcoded captions that are stuck on the screen. 🙂

Thanks so much. 🙂
So, I’ve been using VLC Media Player... that's my go-to for watching movies and everything. But honestly, I'm a bit stuck because I have no clue how to actually set this up, 🤷 I mean, is there a way to just find those online somewhere? 🤷

Open VLC Media Player, right-click the player -> select "Options" -> click "Settings" -> in the left-hand pane, select "Captions." In the right-hand pane, under "Caption settings," uncheck the box for "transparent background."

Why don't you just delete that corrupted file and download the standard version instead? 😉
