Xerox 3140 Troubleshooting

Anyone who’s actually lived with this printer, please weigh in.

I’m considering picking one up myself, but I’d love to know if it’s actually worth the headache...
How much does a refill usually run you?

And what’s the actual yield on a single fill? How many pages am I really getting?

I’ve checked just about every big-box retailer in town, but nobody seems to stock refills for this specific brand. Where are you all finding yours?

Has it been prone to breaking down on you?

I suppose I should answer you before they close this thread, since I think you might have some details mixed up. 😁 I've had a color Xerox laser printer for about five years now, if I recall correctly. It hasn't given me much trouble, though lately it has started leaving a faint line when printing photos. You can find the toners at Best Buy; the cyan, yellow, and magenta are roughly $117 while the black is $450 since it's larger. Each toner should last for about 1,000 pages.

Any local toner shop should be able to handle the refill for you. The real headache is whether they have the right Intel for that specific model. Just think about how many different printers are out there right now—nobody's going to stock niche supplies for some random customer who might only show up once.

Basically, you need to pick a shop you can stick with long-term. If you build that relationship, they'll make sure you're taken care of regarding support for that printer.

But if you try to play it by ear and hop from store to store, don't expect anyone to go the extra mile for you when things break.
