So, this thread got kicked from the Parenting section over to Miscellaneous because apparently it’s just "chatting," and we can supposedly keep talking on the "old boards"... but look, this isn't just mindless small talk, it's a survival guide for exchanging real-world experience twin mom life... I mean, let's be real: I doubt some lady with just one kid is going to have any clue how to handle things like getting both babies to sleep at the exact same time, or keeping them both entertained simultaneously, or pretty much anything else involving double trouble
I honestly don't get why they're trying to shut us down like this, and I bet other twin moms out there are feeling the exact same way!
Plus, if we move to the general catch-all section, how are expectant moms even supposed to find us?

Best,

We’ve decided to scale back on the number of active chat threads here at RiD because, honestly, we feel like there's no need for every single niche interest group to have its own dedicated space. It’s much better to have one central hub where everyone can just hang out and talk to one another freely. We’ve decided to keep the General Hangout thread as our main universal spot, which means the Stereo Show thread is being moved over to the Off-Topic section since it's really just an extra layer we don't strictly need right now.

Basically, everything you want to chat about can still happen in the General Hangout or over in the Stereo thread now that it's sitting in Off-Topic.

Fine, just go ahead and ban the choir enthusiasts and pregnant women too, since apparently every other topic is considered "unnecessary chatter." What’s even the point of having subforums if we aren't allowed to vent about our actual struggles in the threads specifically designed for that? At this rate, you'll be left with nothing but a "Senior Citizens Club," a "wannabe singers club," and a "pregnancy club." Because honestly, if people could just ramble about anything there, we wouldn't even need the other boards.
And look, nobody would be this frustrated with these decisions if you weren't constantly shutting down or moving threads that have actually helped us get through things for years. If these were just posts from a day or two ago, no one would be complaining.

Look, I’ll be honest—we’ve noticed that way too many threads and posts around here have just turned into unnecessary spam or random off-topic chatter, and we’re actually planning to step in and fix that. We want to keep things organized, so just a heads-up that spamming or treating serious discussion threads like a casual chat room isn't allowed anymore. We really want to make sure every topic stays focused on what it was actually meant for!

I mean, what is even the point of having a dedicated subforum if we aren't allowed to actually vent about our problems? The whole reason these specific threads exist is to give us a space to open up about whatever is weighing on us, so why can't we just talk about what’s bothering us?

Look, I just wanted to clear things up regarding how we’re handling our discussion threads. As long as a topic actually makes sense and follows the community guidelines, it’s staying right where it is. We aren't going to have a bunch of random, pointless chat threads cluttering things up, so let's just keep the conversations focused and meaningful!

Honestly, I wouldn't be feeling quite this disappointed by these decisions if you weren't constantly shutting down or moving threads that have been our lifeline for years. It feels like we lose these little pockets of community that actually help us get through things! If these discussions had only been opened a day or two ago, I probably wouldn't have anything to say at all, but when you take away the spaces that have supported us for so long, it really stings.

Look, all this really means is that we’re finally tackling a job that, let's be honest, should have been done a long time ago. I totally get why people are feeling a bit restless; I know many of you have grown fond of the way things used to run around here on the forum, but the old way just wasn't following our own rules, and frankly, it was doing more harm than good. We truly believe we can transform this community into a much more constructive and valuable space, rather than letting it turn into just another endless, disorganized chat room where topics fly by without any substance. So, we're officially heading in that direction, and we're putting all our energy into refining these new guidelines—which are absolutely vital for everyone currently posting and for anyone who decides to join us down the road.

I agree that this forum needs some serious housekeeping. Honestly, sometimes it’s just uncomfortable to even read certain threads, let alone jump in and join the conversation. But if the goal here is to build a truly helpful resource for parents—both current and future—don't you think it would be much more useful for expectant twin parents to find a dedicated space where moms can actually swap real experiences? Right now, instead of finding support, they're wading through three different threads about maternity leave benefits, three about local flea markets, and five about which Target or Walmart has a sale this week. It's a mess.
If you push twin moms over to the off-topic section, where else are new twin moms supposed to find you? They won't. Moms who don't have multiples simply can't offer the kind of advice that matters in these specific situations. I have four kids at home, but I wouldn't be any help to someone struggling with two one-month-olds crying at the exact same time. I've just never been in that position.
You have to realize that these moms need practical advice from people who have actually lived it, not just virtual hugs and sweet words from people who can't even begin to imagine what they're going through.
Because aside from this one thread you just moved, I haven't seen a single other discussion about twins anywhere on the site.

I mean, specifically regarding twins since that’s what we’re talking about right now, but wouldn't that beat having three different threads about maternity leave benefits, three about local flea markets, or five different discussions about whether or not Target or Walmart have good sales going on right now?

Honestly, parents can always share their personal stories in the general lounge; you don't really need a dedicated sub-forum just for twin parents. If we followed that logic, we'd end up needing specific chat topics for every single niche interest group out there that thinks only people in their exact situation can offer advice! Go ahead and support one another, but on this platform, those kinds of chats belong in the General Discussion area—or you can just head over to the Off-Topic boards on Reddit.

As for all those other topics, like I mentioned before, you can definitely expect to see some more changes coming down the pipeline.

The topic threads are just going to keep shrinking until there's nothing left
I mean, let's be real, not every single burp needs to be documented as vital intel on this forum
