Taylor Miller10...make sure to mention they're operating on the tip too. Narrowing the bridge is one thing, but the tip is a separate procedure. Don't sweat the surgery—it's no big deal 😁 Good luck!!

Thanks...that's a long time to wait, but what choice is there? Honestly, I just hope everything looks great for me in a year—as long as I don't have to go back under the knife.

Taylor Chase3 said:It’s been nearly a year since my surgery. Overall, I’m happy—the nose looks way better than before and I'm satisfied with the results.
For this past year, I’ve been watching (or trying not to watch) every single change—the bumps, the ridges, all of it. I keep expecting things to just keep getting smoother. And some things actually have; for instance, that bump on the right side has almost completely vanished. But then, just a few days ago, a new one popped up 🙂 right at the bridge of my nose!!!!!
The thing that really bugs me, though... when I tilt my head to either side, the tip of my nose shifts with it. It isn't massive, but I definitely notice it.
Anyone else dealing with this? Is this permanent, or is there actually a chance it'll eventually "stay centered"...

Good luck to everyone prepping for surgery!!!

Man, now I'm getting nervous... a whole year later and more bumps are showing up... total disaster. Hopefully there's a fix... let's hope together, since it seems like plenty of us are dealing with these bumps... As for me, my tip shifts slightly when I tilt my head, but I was so preoccupied with the bumps that I hadn't even noticed until now—ugh.

wanderingcrane21 said:I actually had surgery at the Mayo Clinic under local anesthesia, and honestly—no lie—it was exactly like what you described in that last sentence.. 😁
I went into detail about my procedure in some earlier posts if you want to check them out... nothing to worry about! 🙂

So, do they give you anything to take the edge off? Like a sedative or something to help you sleep? I had this minor thing done on my chin ages ago—they were removing a tiny cyst🙄 under local. It wasn't even the pain that got to me; it was hearing that scraping sound against the bone, that screeching... I'm not gonna lie, I nearly lost it. I really don't want to go through that again, especially since this one is going to take a bit longer. Do they at least numb you enough so you aren't hyper-aware? And how do they make sure you don't jump around while they're working? God😲 I can already see this turning into a total comedy of errors...

Highly recommend the Mayo Clinic. I’m currently three days post-op from my septorhinoplasty—and honestly, everything from that initial consultation to today has been seamless.

steelangler88 said:Hey, so, do they actually give you anything for calming down or getting some sleep, or what? I had this procedure on my chin way back when—they had to remove some kind of tiny stone or something.🙄 I was at the local clinic, and honestly, it wasn't even the pain that got to me—it was that sound, you know? That sickening scraping against the bone and everything just creaking... I’m not gonna lie, I pretty much lost it right there. I have zero desire to go through that again, especially since this recovery is going to drag on forever. Do they at least give you something to numb the sensation? And how do they even know you aren't going to flinch? Good grief.😲 I can already tell this whole thing is going to be a total tragicomedy...

It’s nothing like that typical local vibe you get when you're, I don't know, heading into a hospital to get some sewing done or whatever... I can't even tell you exactly what they gave me, but I do know my sister injected something into my IV around 9:30, and then I just drifted off until I woke up somewhere around noon. 🙂
So, during my first consultation, the doctor mentioned they’d give me some local anesthesia along with a little something to make sure I have total amnesia about the whole thing... honestly, if you ask me, whatever they decide to pump into you is probably worth it just to skip the memory of it all, right? 🙂
Honestly, I felt the exact same way when I was out on general anesthesia; I just drifted off and then woke up a while later like nothing happened, so there's really nothing to worry about. 😁

restlessrider14 said:I’m reading this and just praying it’s the same for me—that things might actually settle down... but honestly, my nose looks visibly crooked, almost like it was snapped right down the middle. You can see the transition from where it should be straight to this weirdly raised, bumpy area—and if you touch it, well, don't even get me started. Even the bones on the sides feel slightly swollen... god, it's awful. Please, does anyone else deal with this??? Thank you so much... I'm feeling pretty desperate here and I have nobody to turn to for advice.

Did you happen to go see Stanton?

Because I ended up with a permanent bump after seeing him, even a full year later.👎

The doctor told me during my first consultation that they give you local anesthesia combined with a sedative to induce amnesia—so you won't remember a thing. Believe me—whatever they used worked perfectly. 🙂
I had the exact same experience under general anesthesia; I just drifted off and woke up much later... so don't worry about it. 😁

God, I hope so. Otherwise, I’m going to jump off the table the second I feel them scraping—and that definitely wouldn't be pretty. Thank you very much!

Don't even sweat it... you know how to take care of yourself, let alone handle whatever this does... seriously, don't worry about it.🙂

So, quick question for the group—is it okay to use Afrin nasal spray? I had my surgery about three and a half weeks ago...?!?
I caught a cold and now my nose is just constantly running and stuffed up, and I can't even blow it properly without feeling weird about it :P Can I at least use some spray just to clear things out?😁

Has anyone ever heard of cases where the bruising just doesn't fully clear up?

It’s been two weeks since my surgery, and I've even headed back to work, but there's still this purple discoloration under my eye. I'm starting to worry it might actually stay like this. 😢

Oh, you'll definitely have them for a bit! It's been about a month and a half since my procedure and while the bruising finally cleared up, I’m left with this tiny, tiny little line under both eyes. It doesn't even look like a bruise anymore, just looks like slightly deeper dark circles.

But how is that even possible? A month and a half????😲

Last year, when I had my first procedure, everything was perfect after just two weeks—you wouldn't have even known I'd done anything. This time, though, the recovery feels much harder. Seeing this purple discoloration under my eyes that just won't budge... I'm honestly not sure what to think. I guess it has to clear up eventually, right??🤷

Last year, when I had my first surgery, I felt like a brand-new person after just two weeks—honestly, you wouldn't have even known I’d been under the knife! But this time around? Man, the recovery has been a total uphill battle. And now, seeing this purple bruising under my eye that just refuses to budge... I’m sitting here wondering what on earth is going on. I mean, I guess everyone has one bad experience, right? It's gotta pass eventually... hopefully!🤷

Nancy Perez74, don't you worry—those bruises will fade before you know it! 🙂 Honestly, for me, things stayed lingering for a full month—plus, I ended up with this tiny little spot that took a good few months to finally fade away completely. Everyone’s body reacts so differently, you know? It's all very individual, but the main thing is just staying patient and knowing it'll eventually clear up! 🙂

😲😲😲 A whole month??? Or even several months???
That sounds pretty rough... but I guess it’s good to know. Hopefully, mine clears up eventually too; I just really hope nothing stays permanent.

Whatever, I don't know why—doesn't matter... maybe we'll cross paths if we end up in the same room. 😬😬

Nancy Perez74 said:😲😲😲 A month??? Several months???
That’s brutal... way too long. But hey, good to know. Hopefully mine clears up one of these days too—as long as it isn't permanent, I guess.

Don't sweat it, it'll pass. My "bruises" took forever to fade—especially that little line under my right eye. In the meantime, just try to cover it with some concealer when you head out... I remember people staring at me weirdly on the subway once before I even realized what was happening... poor souls probably thought I'd been in a fight or just had massive dark circles lol.

Yeah, sure... maybe we'll see each other, assuming my folks don't grill me the second I walk through the door after hearing they were working.
