The title is kind of dumb, I know 😁 but nothing better popped into my head just now.

So, I just picked up a new motherboard and CPU. I think I’m actually going to wipe everything and reinstall macOS from scratch just so I don't deal with driver conflicts and all that nonsense. Since this is my first time doing this, I have a pretty basic question;

Basically, I’m swapping out the motherboard, processor, and RAM. Do I just plug everything in, power it up, and then boot from a DVD or USB to start the installation? Is there anything else I need to do while the old board is still running, or am I good to go?

So, it’s pretty much exactly how you laid it outβ€”you put the whole rig together, fire it up, and then boot from a DVD or a USB drive containing macOS. From there, you just wipe the old partitions, create whatever new ones you want, and perform a fresh install of macOS. Once that's done, you'll definitely want to make sure you grab all the necessary drivers and the chipset updates to get everything running smoothly, and then you're good to go...
