Best USB Wi-Fi Adapters?

I’m looking to pick up a USB wireless adapter, probably in the $100 range. Does anyone have any solid recommendations, or is it pretty much a "buy whatever is on sale" situation?

Are you actually looking for serious range here, or is this just about grabbing a decent signal from the Wi-Fi Alliance router
sitting in the next room over?
If it’s the latter, honestly, you could probably just pick up whatever is on sale...

edit: though, I guess you can't really go wrong with something like Linksys...

Since I'm already hanging out in this thread, I might as well hijack it for a second and ask for some advice myself.
I'm hunting for a USB wireless adapter with an external antenna—and I want to pair it with some absolute beast of a
antenna that I can plug right into it... I'm talking maximum possible coverage!!!

I need to cover about 3-4 meters vertically, with a ceiling acting as the main obstacle.

I spotted a few options over at Micro Center, but I’m leaning towards one of the last two since they actually have an external antenna.

My brother's dealing with the exact same headache at his place—he’s trying to pull a Wi-Fi signal from the upstairs floor through the ceiling and
he's just relying on whatever crappy built-in card his laptop came with... but honestly, my take is that pretty much any
decent external card is going to do the trick... just grab one of those two you were looking at... if things still act up
you can always just pick up a separate antenna and hook it up later... though I really don't think you'll even need to go that route...
