Has anyone here actually visited a filming location for a famous movie? Like Lord of the Rings or some series. Doesn't matter if it was with a group or solo. I'm working on a seminar about this and I'm kind of lost on where to even start looking. =)

So, I was actually out at the location yesterday—Pike Place Market, where Jackie Chan filmed God's Armor 😁.

Pretty wild how many movies get filmed around the old Yugoslavia region and the US. I probably was 🤷

I was driving right past that little church where they filmed Bird (you know, the one used as the backdrop for Bird), Bodega Bay, back in 2006.

I spent four months over in New Zealand last year, so I finally managed to hit up a few of those Lord of the Rings filming spots. 🙂

And here I was thinking it was just some studio building... 🙏

(you can see at the end of the series that it really is a studio😵

I’m starting this thread as a little resource for everyone—whether you're hunting down where a specific movie was filmed, or if you're planning a trip and want to see if there are any cinematic landmarks to check out while you're there.
Specifically, I have a trip coming up to Brussels soon, so I was wondering if anyone knows of any movies that were shot there?
I honestly just love making my travels a bit more interesting—whenever I head somewhere new, I always try to track down filming locations to add a little extra magic to the experience.

I have to admit, I’m feeling a little bit embarrassed to say this, but I actually spent my honeymoon exploring Montepulciano and the beautiful hills of Tuscany way back before that charming little town—which honestly has some of the most incredible private wineries you could ever dream of—was completely overrun by crowds of obnoxious tourists, specifically those obsessed with the Twilight saga. image

And, of course... 😉

I've spent some time wandering through Washington and New York, places where countless movies have been filmed over the decades. But honestly? My proudest moment was visiting the cemetery where they shot Don Vito Corleone's funeral in The Godfather 🙂
When you walk up and then head away, the view is almost identical to the shot in the movie 🙂...

I was just reading this in Empire yesterday:

Empire : Chicago : Batman Begins and TDK London

London: all three—and it's the only one appearing in all three

Los Angeles TDKR

Pittsburgh TDKR

New York - The Dark Knight Rises - Christopher Nolan mentioned they didn't have the resources for the first two movies here, but he always wanted to include the "real Gotham" in the film.

On topic: I've been to the Pyramids (Stargate, The Mummy, Transformer), Luxor, Istanbul (Taken 2, Skyfall), London (Skyfall, Sherlock Holmes), Paris (Moulin Rouge), Dubai (MI: Ghost Protocol), Venice (Casino Royale), Vienna, Tunis (the desert where they shot Star Wars), Barcelona, Madrid, all the major German cities, Prague, Monte Carlo...
And once a year I head to Rome and tour the USA, so I'll check out a few more. Some places even offer movie tours.

I've been to Bristol, but don't know if any major movies were filmed there, though there is some in Bruges. :-)

I was actually out at Plitvice Lakes, and people there were talking about filming Avatar 2. Does that count? 🤣

Bond was never filmed here—that "Chicago station" is actually Istanbul.
